Hello, Well today I went to the store to buy Baldur's Gate II again because my friend lost my first copy, and they were sold out! :( So, instead of going home empty handed I bought Neverwinter Nights. I installed it and when it prompted me to restart my computer I said ok but that led to it having some crazy error and me having to completely reinstall windows and every game, program, etc. that was on it! :( :( not a very good start to this game!

anyways: i finally got it working but I expierience a lot of slowdown in combat situations and I have the video quality set to fastest and the resolution is 800x600.... any other ways anyone can think of for making the game run faster that don't entail me buying anything or doing anything that requires more than remedial computer knowlege? thanks! I look forward to making more interesting posts on this game in the future if I can get this thing goin a bit faster!

You could uninstall the game, and choose minimum requirments instead of the recomended or full.

Turn off shadowing in the options panel. Actually, turn off every graphics item. Play in low resolutions (640x480 or 600x800, I don't remember what is the lowest this game will do). Set quality to lowest. That video speed thing doesn't matter much. What's your video card, processor, and RAM?

[IMG] More RAM always helps the performance of a game. Way back in the dark hazy past, okay, it was whe BG2 was released I needed more RAM to stop the slowdown I was getting in that. I only had 64 Mb then. If you already have over 256 Mb of RAM installed then I'd be looking at the possibility that NWN hates something on your computer, possibly XP.
Another good idea would be to update your graphics card and sound card drivers to the newest available ones. I've heard that NWN doesn't like ATI cards with a passion from a few people I've spoken to.

    Hope this helps you out.

[IMG] UK prices can vary quite a bit from what I've seen lately.
SDRAM starts at around £20 for a strip of PC100 128Mb, and DDRRAM starts at around £30 for a strip of 2100 128Mb. Look around online for some good offers on it though.
