I've tried to kill Abazigal with my solo monk and I'm getting really pi... angry.... He kicks my face in every time. Any ideas? No, I'm not cheating.

last time I beat him, I'd stayed WAY out of his way and flooded the area with summoned creatures... I never even saw his face when he died. I was just watching all the dialogue at the bottom and when anything of mine died I summoned another.

Mordenkainen's *sp?* swords and deva/planatar's lasted the longest. But even good ol' fashioned monster summoning wands made him use up his death spells before my elemental army just swallowed him.

but i'm sure you want a more "challenging" or "realistic" way to beat him.

I usually surround him with summons and then spread my characters to the four corners and arm the all with missle weapons or spells. Keeping out of his direct claw attack is a good thing. His wing buffet won't reach you and most of his spells will target the fodder you plant in front of him. I had Aerie doing nothing but dropping his protections and resistance from half a mile away. I had Jaheira and Viconia summoning stuff and doing direct damage with that Bolt other spells. The rest of my troop had crossbows with lightning bolts (seems to me like every dragon but blue is actually weak to that, or have no resistance to lightning, it's a definate damage spell) and arrows of biting/acid.

but of course, I'm an idiot.

That's because blue dragons are immune to lightning. Firing lightning bolts or bolts of lightning at Abazigal is a waste of ammunition and effort.

Abazigal is tough, so don't get discouraged. Think of this as a true test of your monk's abilities.

Heh,heh; you're so dead  . Try quivering palm -you might get lucky. Heard that it should kill even dragons with a single smite.

Virne is right. You have to make a saving throw and if we says that he manages to avoid it even if he rolls a one, you can try and try because it doesn't care how good someones saving trows are, you will always fail on a 1. Cheezy? Yes, but if you don't manages to pull it of otherwize, use it.

Yay, I killed him... I used hardiness and greater whirlwind and I charged him. When Greater Whirlwind faded I put up another one until he was dead. I freaked out when he was about to cast heal on himself because my hardiness doesn't last long.
