Is Abazigal immune to Timestop? Whenever I cast Timestop, he can still use his tail slap ability. Is this normal or a bug?

I do recall using time stop against Abizigal with success, so that does seem kind of odd. Is Abizigal i n black and white or in color? Perhaps Tail Slap is an automatic ability.

Probably a bug, he's not supposed to be immune to Timestop.

Nope, not a bug but a "feature"; several, scripted actions are automatically cast and thus they can be cast even during that spell. For example: mind flayer psionics, that tail slash, golem slow/haste and adamantine golem's gas cloud. Timestop "time" is also counted to the duration of effects, thus they can and likely will wear down during this time.

    Annoying. :nolike:

Right, Abazigal's Tail Slap ability is a scripted action, thus it still resolves during the TimeStop effect.

To my knowledge, only Balthazar, The Ravager and Amelissan the Blackhearted are not affected by Time Stop (Effect: Protection from Timestop /310/)

    Hi -

Those demons which are summoned via animal sacrifice in the Underdark can cast their stun/death effects at you during a timestop as well.

Demon Knights? Meh...they're too easy. Just Improved Haste+Mislead+Stoneskin in a trigger on a tank...watch the chunks fly! :D

If you are using time stop on a dragon, then you should also be using a x3 lower resistance trigger and a barrage of spells. No need to get close enough for his tail slap to work.

The demon knights casting during timestop? Weird... IIRC, only creatures of demi-god status or higher can act normally during a timestop spell... Which would explain Demogorgon, Amelissan or the Ravager... although I don't know why Balthazar should be resistant. Any ideas?

I don't think you're 100% on board with the conversation. Certain monsters have scripted actions that take place at regular intervals no matter what, even while the monster is paralyzed by Time Stop. Dragons don't run around doing stuff, but if you stand near one during a time stop you'll take a shot from his scripted tail swing. This really, really sucks since it takes the entire length of the time stop to run back to the dragon, and you never hit it.

The same is true for demon knights. They have a scripted power word attack (or is it Symbol? can't remember) that launches every few rounds. The Time Stop paralyzes them, but the attack happens anyway.

Now none of this is supposed to be an interpretation of the game or anything--they're not saying Dragons and Demon Knights are immune to Time Stop. It's just a semi-lousy programming problem.

As for Balthasar, temporary immunity to Time Stop is one of his nifty Bhaalspawn powers that has never, ever saved him from me.
