All in all, A Plague Tale: Innocence is shaping up to be a really interesting stealth game. The setting and time period give it a distinctive feel. The stealth mechanics are shaping up to be fun, and the combination of terrifying swarms of rats and malicious knights feels like it'll make for a very interesting set of enemies. While the possibility of a game-long escort mission can make anyone nervous, Asobo Studios seems to know what it's doing. We'll see how the full game pans out when it comes to PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

You probably could lose a lot of time mindfully gazing at the structures and inspecting all the carefully chosen resources the devs used. That is, until the village you thought was abandoned actually isn't and the villagers are holding up in their homes frightened and confused, looking for someone to blame for this awful plague that has darkened their world.

In their lack of understanding, they come after Amicia and Hugo where they find themselves running in fear down the narrow streets, trying to find anyone to help them. Finally, they meet an old woman who gives them shelter for a brief moment and this is where Amicia learns how to craft and upgrade her slingshot and oh boy, at this point does she need it.

At every turn, there's danger, something that wants to kill you and no real chance to rest. This becomes a problem as Hugo's illness presents in 'attacks' that incapacitate him for a few moments. He can't walk or talk and he is simply immobile. Usually, these attacks come at the most inopportune times, which leads to more running, hiding and escape.

So while, at its core, it's an action-adventure game, A Plague Tale Innocence is really the story of these siblings, their journey and their growth together. It's incredibly clever of Asobo to have Hugo stick so closely to Amicia. From the very beginning, I felt responsible for him and I had an overwhelming urge to protect him.
