After completing the main halls I went down a level. Bad idea? Its getting pretty rough - especially those scorpions cat things. should I be trying the upper halls instead?

Also, anyone know how to turn on dice roll stats?

Hopefully someone out there will read this :)

it's been a long time since i played this game, but i think i did the upper level before going down. try and take on the arracats one by one (obvious) and at range. my party was able to take one or two out before they got to us.

    spoilers

mainly the first few bits are plodding through and saving after each battle until you get the hang of the combat and stop opening yourself to attacks of opportunity etc and waiting until your characters get enough levels to actually hit orogs. the lizardmen and undead are not so bad

I finally defeated the arracats by bottling them up in a doorway, charming a few and webbing some as well.

I did as you said and went up - much easier.
