I'm so used to playing 2nd Edition that it takes an hourly scourging to keep my body pained enough to continue thinking 3rdwise. :wail: So anyway, what's the deal with DC rolls and Armor Class? What DC makes a lock really hard to open and such? Armor class is greater when it's higher now, right? How much?

Everything in the game now works on a 1d20+skill basis. Skill being stat modifier plus skill ranks plus situational modifiers.

NWN lets you "Take 20" against locks and traps when not in combat(which is rather generous by PnP standards). So, basically, the lock or trap can be dealt with by a person whose skill equals the DC-20. IF a lock is DC 32, you need a 12 skill to open it. If for some reason you need to pick a lock during combat, you can't 'take 20' so you need to be much better or much luckier, since you'll just roll the 1d20.

AC is 10 for unarmored and goes up from their. AD&D AC started at 10 and went down from there. Just reverse the number differential. The old AC 0 is equal to the modern AC 20. AC -10 is now AC 30.
