I'm sure everyone who plays monks already knows this, but I've never played a monk, and this only just occurred to me as I doodled around Suldanessalar with my current party today.

    Fists are +0 weapons.

If an annoying spellcaster has that immunity-to-magical-weapons/spell protection combo up, you can just bang on him with your fists to keep him from casting any more spells while you mop up his mates.

    D'oh!

Beats me. I was a ranger at the time, and it was Jaheira who put away her club and gave the rakshasa a knuckle sandwich, anyway. (-:

I'm sure if I'd ever played a monk, it wouldn't have taken me nearly so long to figure this out...

[IMG] Aren't a Monk's fists considered magical weapons?

    That would be interesting!

    A fighter/druid's fists apparently aren't. (-:

At the first levels they aren't magical. As the monk progresses, they count as +1 weapons, then +2, up to +3. Don't remember at which levels, never cared for monks.

Monks get +1 at level 9, +2 at level 12, and +3 at level 15. Monks are awesome, btw. You just have to get them to level 14, when they get 42% magical resistance, then another 3%/level after that.

Yeah...and put the ring of Gaxx and the cloak of mirroring on them, and they're almost invincible. Almost.

Against Kangaxx my monk was useless. Utterly frickin' useless. He's usually out on the front line kicking the bejesus out of the bad guys, 4 attacks per round with gauntlets of crushing, the dialogue box is quite a sight. (PC does 42 damage to umber hulk/PC does 36 damage to umber hulk...it goes on and on.) It's getting boring, frankly.

And there's nothing quite like the quivering palm, by the bye...

What I like about monks is that they are much more motivated to advance in levels than other kits...rangers, for example...one more charm animal spell, maybe a proficiency slot, big frickin' deal.

I dont have TOB, but is it not possible to have a character attain level 30 something?

    3% Magic resistance X 30= Motivation

They put a patch in ToB that keeps Monks from getting more than 78% (I think) Magic Resistance. If you don't have it and get the experience cap remover, you can get them up to 100%, though.

Does the monk's magic resistance cap in ToB disallow the 10% you get if you're wearing the ring of Gaxx?
