    Remove all ads!
    In a 2 man team I would use a weapon type that has many choices of weapons that have status effects that will allow you to incapacitate your foes.

    In principle he already has this with long swords. I'd give clerical weapons like the mace of disruption and the flail of many ages to Aerie to spread the wealth around.

    Yes, she will. When you're playing in a two man party, she might even reach it in the SoA part.
    True, but she isn't a very effective sling thrower either.

    Well yeah, the point was that having a dual spellcaster attack with weapons is a waste of combat actions.

    After opening up an encounter with spells a buffed Aerie should be effective in melee. Tensers makes any mage meleeable.

    But it's still a waste of combat options. You spend several rounds buffing her and then half-competently attacking when you could just take everything out in a few rounds with spells.

    If you like resting every other fight, that would be the most effective way, I suppose. But even with a solo-sorcerer, I'd normally just summon some more durable summons and have them deal with anything. It tends to be more effective than casting direct damage spells because you'll run out of them very quickly.

    There are some exceptions, the harder boss fights, for instance, but mostly I tend not to use too many direct damage spells, because I don't like having to rest after each and every encounter.

    Robe of Vecna comes to mind. Not much else besides that. Maybe boots of haste in Saradush if you have more than 4 guys in your party. Staff of Rhyn if you need a +4 weapon right off the bat.

    Mostly if you know what is coming, you can protect yourself from it.

    It protects you completely from a school of spells, but if they use a spell from a different school, it will do nothing.
