[IMG] What can I say... my party sucks... I tried almost everything, but I just can't defeat Lyachtu Xvim in the cleric tower..

    My party: Paladin 11/Fighter4, Rogue 15, Bard 15, Monk 16, Druid 15, Wizard 15.

I've tried using my wizard to cast Otiluke Sphere on him so I can easily handle his creatures, but after that it's simply a suicide.. he hack and slash my summons, direct approach with my party will result in total destruction to my very poor party... this SOB is immune almost to everything!

I've also tried using Malison spell and after that sending the Finger of Death on him, so far without any luck..

I'm new in this great forum, so I thought tring my luck with your tips guys. TIA!

[IMG] My hastened, strengthened fighters wailed on him with blunt weapons (+4 hammer etc) while my sorcerer fried him with chain lightning. A full set of summoned critters kept his demonic buddies from spoiling the party and down he went.

Lightning hurts him I think. I'm not sure though.

Probably the best option is to spend most slots on buffs and protections and cast all that before the ritual. For me it was easy, but I had two sorceresses and a cleric to cast those.

Summon some skeletons to cut off those summoned creatures. I also had much trouble with Xvim. I repeated that fight almost 20 times.

[IMG] I killed him. it was hard  .

    This is what I did:

After he summon his monsters, I've sphered him with Otiluke Sphere. then I placed all my nerves on the monsters. the critical hits did well, as they easily blasted into a very tiny pieces.

than I've summoned 5 undeads to surround Xvim so I could earn some time. just after the sphere expired, I sent him all of my memorized lightning spells existed by my wizard and my druid.

He became bedly injured, unfortunatly he erased my undead from the world, than started attack my wizard, so I've decided to take to take a chance and hit to the victory. I've sent all my party to attack him. he manage to kill my wizard, but after that came the beautiful sound of the +4 long sword that slash his existence and send him directly to nine-hells!

    Thanks everyone!

If you've been having THAT much trouble with Xvim, why didn't you think to try.. i dunno..

Improved Invisibility? Coat your party with that.. He won't know what hit him..

Oh, my paladin is very patriotic... the death he bring to my evil enemies is also patriotic...

You should see how he blows their corpses... poor souls :( ... but graves are unneeded :)

It is dangerous to be evil in these days. :)

If I say Iyachtu is afraid of needles and pins...Would You believe to me? A demigod that forgot to ask his father (Bane I think) to give him protection from harsh weather(storms in particular) and needles, is no demigod at all...

He means that Xvim is weak against piercing and electric damage.

I think that the Slayer Knights of Xvim should be weaker after his death. Would make more sence.

    defeating xvim

it's been about 6 years since i have played this awesome game, but i have found a very formulaic method for beating xvim.
first, anything that is not a +4 is useless.....
second, he will kick your butt in melee....
    ...so...
buys as many +4 missile weapons as you can get from the merchant on the 4th floor (arrows, darts...even throwing axes).
i tend to go with a fighter-heavy party, but xvim is pretty stupid.
he will focus on one member of the party, and chase him/her around the room.
all the other 5 need to do is spread out and pepper him with +4 arrows and darts.... it does take a while, and occasionally, xvim's attention will shift to a different party member. just keep whoever he is focused on running away, while the other 5 sting him like a hive of bees...
...in other words, keep him chasing one member of the party around in circles, while the other 5 sting him to slow, but eventual death.
oh, and anything less than a +4 weapon is useless.
