Turn Undead

This might be a stupid question, but does anybody here know the properties of Turn Undead? Like, what it's max range is? And what the area of effect is, i.e. whether it's a beam projecting from the front of the character or a circular field surrounding the character. Just for curiosity's sake.

To tell the truth I don't remember it was printed in manual... *sigh*

    Dunno.

Maybe some (a)d&d player's handbook should know...

Just taken from what appears to happen in the game (and rough guesses of distance), turn undead affects a radius of about 10-15 feet from the character.
I may be wrong, but that's what it looks like.

It's because your not a high enough level to kill them with it.

    [IMG] Hi,

Well my DND DM manual only goes up to lvl 14+ but at that level you will be able to chunk anything from wraith down and automatically turn mummies and have a very good chance of turning vamps (throw of 4).

I am not sure how representative this is of BG2 so I did some experimentation with Anomen, changing his level and spawning in some monsters with the console and found out the following:

    lvl 12, will chunk shadows
    lvl 14, will chunk ghasts
    lvl 16, will chunk mummies
    lvl 18 will chunk vampires
    lvl 21 will chunk liches

The lich was interesting, I chunked him before he got off his timestop. :D

These were basic monsters, obviously some of the named monsters will be higher level than these basic ones. I didn't try any of the other numerous undead types but they will fit somewhere within this chart I think.

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt.

[IMG] Yeah, the Turn Undead ability was real useful... about time too. It was so damn useless in BG1 that I thought they put it there just for show. The moment a lich appears, it blows up! Not very challenging, i know, but it makes battles wit lots of undead henchmen much easier, especially since you're immune to normal weapons in TOB ;)
