I just thought of this topic based on a conversation I was having with someone.

Have you ever met any famous people / celebrities , or seen them up close in public? If so who, and under what circumstances?

    My top two are.

Alice Cooper- Phoenix airport. He was a really cool guy

Ed Asner (AKA Lou Grant)- Sat next to him in First Class on a flight from Boston to LA. He was nice, but I couldn't get past the thought that he may actually be a little crazy.

Sean Bean - didn't really speak to him though
    Paul Gascoigne - absolutely HERO
Aaron Lennon - bit of a knob
    Graham Swann - legend

Think there's a few others but I can't think right now.

Mostly american sports stars. My family has a billiards business in South Jersey, we had a lot of clients that were from various local sports teams.

Phil Jackson - Met in Vegas at the Belaggio, he is a D-bag.
Matt Damon - Also in Vegas at the Super Bowl party at the MGM - Giants/Ravens Super bowl, he was cool.
Nicolas Turturro - Also in Vegas, same vent as above - From NYPD Blue & currently on Blue Bloods - nice guy
Pete Rose - he is one fo the good guys! Love Pete. Talked to him for over half n hour at a baseball card show in the Philly area many years ago.
    Mike Schmidt - meh
Ron Jaworski - ESPMN analyst, ex-Eagles QB - Major D-bag
Juan Samuel - ex-MLB player - Really cool guy.
John Kruk - ex MLB player and current ESPN analyst on Baseball Tonight. Great guy.
Howard Katz - Ex -Sixers owner - Full of himself but free with the money
Jenna Jamison - Famous Stripper from the Howard Stern show - BAM!
Johnnie Chan - Hold'em tourney in Atlantic City. Gave us some pointers on the game. Been told he is a jerk, but seemed nice enough to me.

Holy McJesus! I forgot the most important two of all!

Gary Gygax and Ed Greenwwod at a GameCon in Chery Hill, NJ. The McGeek aura still affects me to this day.

[IMG] When in high school I went to pick up my date and her mother answered the door and invited in as my date wasn't quite ready. Her mom said she wanted to introduce me to some of her guests and took me in the dining room. She introduced me to Harry and Bess Truman, the president. President Truman asked what our plans were for the evening and not thinking I responded we were going ice skating and he asked where as he was a native of Kansas City. Of course I put my foot in my mouth as I replied Eisenhower Lake. I immediately turned deep red and became speechless. President Truman replied.....Son be careful because the ice can be awfully thin on that lake.

Anouk - Dutch Rock artist who somehow didn't get world famous. Met her a few times when I worked in a store where she came regularly, in a small town where she lived. She used to come with Postman, a rap artist/producer who's now her ex-husband.

    Just one of Anouk's

    Postmen

Met Sabrina Starke on the streets of Rotterdam, her hometown. I'm sure none of you know her, but she's a very kind, nice and cool chick. Something in her voice makes me all sentimental.

    • Jim Parsons
    • Merlin Olsen
    • Yasmeen Bleeth (back when she was famous)

Don't know how everyone feels about my neighbor but he is certainly infamous if not famous as well as unforgettable when met in person. John Daley the controversial pro golfer lives 2 houses down and owns the Lions Den golf club we live on. When he isn't playing golf he hangs out at the club and entertains with his guitar and singing songs he has penned. His most famous and humorous song he wrote entitled - All of my X's wear rolexs.

    Almost all work-related ...

    • Snoop Dogg and a wide variety of sports figures at Super Bowl parties in town. (Like Blades says, many of these guys are a-holes, but a surprising few of them are really cool. Jim McMahon was one. You'd think he'd be an egomaniac but he was down-to-earth.)
    • Eminem as regards 8 Mile-related stuff (release parties, premiers).
    • Once spent two very strange nights outside Keith Richards' hotel room.
    • Sinbad (really cool guy).
    • Erin Andrews (b*tchy).

Probably a few others I can't think of right now.

Actually met - George R.R. Martin... and that's probably it. The rest would only count as "famous" around here.

While I was abroad I'm sure I've also seen / passed by a bunch of famous people over the years but that doesn't exactly leave a lasting impression that I'd remember years later.

I worked in airports and hotels for years so I've met quite a few. Elle Mcphearson was nice. A proper mummy! Her kids are adorable.

2 People I went to school with are (relatively) famous. One is a musician with head candy (I think it's to do with dance music) and one is an author who has recently had one of her books made into a film

When I was 17 I worked at a bank in Hollywood. One of our tasks was to looks at bounced checks, if the person had enough in their account we would cover the check with a quick withdrawal and then call them to let them know.

I did one account and saw there was over $7 million in savings, withdrew the funds to cover the check, dialed the number and then looked at the name -- "Bob Hope."

The number went to his accountant ... damn.

I met Kent Derricott, a minor gaijin celebrity in Japan.

That's it. More proof that my life is pathetic :(

Was busking in the city and Kirk Hammett walked past with entourage. He stayed and listened for a bit then suggested I jam with other people (btw- I'm insanely good guitarist). Then one of his cronies yelled at me, 'he's the best f'n guitarist in the world' and they all walked off. Wierdo. Oh, btw- Kirk was a really mellow and chilled guy. My sister got Lars autograph that night also.

Had an argument with James Doohan (original 'Scotty' from Star Trek) about the correct way to play Cat's in the Cradle. Turned out he was right. Another very chilled and likeable guy.

James Reyne (a few times). Kind of a tosser.

The guys from Mental as Anything - very nice guys but a decadent lifestyle has certainly taken its toll on them physically.

Performed a song with lead singer from Chocolate Starfish (short-lived Aussie band). Nice guy, powerful voice.

Some of the cast from 'Neighbours' back in the 90's.

'Big Kev' (many times). Australian peeps will know him. God, what a sleezy git he was. Covered in bling and escorts in hand.

Also a string of Australian rubgy/AFL people. Most often I saw them being escorted from nightclubs by police and/or security.

    Others...

Just some actors from my country. One gave back the smile and other tried to look like he's not there or something...
