I have gotten to the point in BGII:TOB where my party is getting class Special Abilities (Whirlwind attack, summon deva, etc). I can select them when I level up, however for some characters (protaganist, Imoen) they don't show when I click the special ability button during game play. For others (minsc) I can see whirlwind, but when I select it, he never executes it. I am using the 4-in-1 box set version with the TOB patch installed. Any advice?

    Thanks

    Mark

P.S. The abilities that grant extra spells DO work - they do get their extray 7th or 8th level spell.

For Imoen, mage HLAs don't go under the Special Ability button but rather in the mage's spell book with the level 9 spells. Cleric/druid HLAs also go in the their spell book under level 7 spells.

Yes I have rested - okay I did find the wizard items under spells (knew they were there not sure where my head was when posting). However the whirlwind still does not work. Now my two frontline fighters (Minsc and Valygar) both have boots of speed - is that the problem?

Oh well I am in Chapt 8 of TOB so not too much time left anyway....thanks for the replies!!!!

The boots of speed will not affect Whirlwind.

Are you perhaps Silenced? I'm not sure if Whirlwind counts as a magical ability that is blocked by Silence or not, but its all that comes to my mind. I have never heard of a bug such as Whirlwind not working.

After selecting Whirlwind, do you wait for the spell to take effect? If you move before the Whirlwind affects you, the spell is lost, like with a mage who starts casting a spell and then moves.
