Which film adaptation of A Christmas Carol do you like best?

    Alistair Simms' version is often referred to as the timeless classic.

    But my personal preference is the George C. Scott version. Scott does a wonderful job of displaying both sides of the character, both the ugly meaness, and the newfound kindness.

    Also loved the portrayal of Marley and the other Ghosts. Especially the Ghost of Christmas yet to come, scary and chilling.

    Well out of loyalty to my old Uni's Chancellor, I'll have to say the Patrick Stewart version :p.

    The animated one with Jim Carrey is surprisingly good though.

    The 1984 version. Also the Blackadder/Rowan Atkinson version, if we're going with parodies/depressingly true RL references

    Clearly Alistair Simms one is the best version. For a more modern take though I do think the animated one is pretty good.

    The muppets. What's not to like? Michael Caine as Scrooge, music, dancing, a cast made of assorted barnyard animals and great lines like:

    "Light the lamp not the rat! LIGHT THE LAMP NOT THE RAT!"
