Three times now I've installed and uninstalled Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal and I'm not sure why but the game starts up fine but when I click Play the game loads, but as soon as the load bar fills the game crashes to desktop.

Here are the mods I'm trying to use: (Running Windows 7 with Norton AntiVirus and Microsoft Essentials, if that matters)

    Dungeon-Be-Gone
    Unfinished Business
    Romantic Encounters
    Haer'Dalis Romance
One Pixel Productions (Paperdoll and inventory icon overhaul)
    1PP Female Dwarf Avatars
    Imoen Friendship
    Yoshimo Friendship

And I tried to use Baldurdash or the BG2 Fixpack but my computer decided it would download it but not let me apply either one. Grr. Also, I applied the TOB patch 26498.

My personal theory is that it has something to do with my now rather draconian spyware and virus protection (Funny, it invites all the trojans over to play but it won't let my play my &*(^!~ game!!!)

So...basically everything but the fixpacks installs fine. The game might even play once...then never again. Uninstalling the mods then reinstalling them results in a LOT of error messages. ( I will try it again in a moment and post the log if necessary)

the sequence in which you installed these mods is also important, did you use any method doing this?

As Goodman Splunge has posted previously...

"Read each mod's readme for installation instructions. In the absence of instructions on ordering, here's the general order:

    Install these first (in order):
    SOA
    TOB
    Official Patch
    Non-weidu mods
Baldurdash or G3's BG2 Fixpack (I prefer the latter).

SCS II should be installed last (if you plan on installing it).
BG2 Tweak Pack should be second last.
Level One NPC's should be installed after any mod which adds kits, so that the Level One mod will recognize them.

All other mods should be installed somewhere in between."

    Also...

As for your mods listed, I have had all installed with many more at the same time. So it is doable. The readme files are chock full of info, they are a must read. Make sure Fixpack/Baldurdash are the first Weidu mod installed...

I always, always, always install patches and fixes first as a general rule. I tried again and left out DBG, RE and the fixpack decided to work. Everything is working hunky-dory so far. I wonder if not only was the install order the problem but also because RE has a 'fling with Haer Dalis' component which is of course not needed in lieu of the full romance. Who knows...like I said I never had a huge problem with my mods like this. I don't think I've ever used more than seven or eight mods at one play through. I forget how fickle these things can be.

I will keep this formula in mind for the future, however. I am even going to copy/paste it and put it somewhere safe! :p

well i installed a lot of mods lately and usually compatibility problems are listed in FAQ- I usually avoided those which caused many compatibility issues ;p

anyways glad the game works for you so far and have fun!

ps. romantic encounters are quite good tbh
