As of late, i've developed a passion for hunting down old games consoles. It all started when I found my old Sega Megadrive in my loft, and it still worked.

Since then i've picked up an N64, a Gamecube, a Megadrive II, and a NES (Complete with original Mario) and i'm looking at a SNES and a Dreamcast.

    Anyone else into this?

Or better yet, anyone got any old consoles they wish to flog? I'm aiming for as far back as the Atari 2600.

I have no wordly idea whatever happened to my Atari 2600 and Atari 5200. That 5200 seemed like the pinnacle of technology compared to the 2600. Donkey Kong looked just about as good as it did when I played it at the liquor store arcade style.

It's hard to believe how many hours I spent jumping over gators and swinging from vines on the 2600. Yeah, I was absolutely captivated with Pitfall for a while there.

I still have a Turbografx-16 with the CD drive attachment that I break out every once in a while, and I had a Colecovision as a kid.

I had a ZX Spectrum... or rather, my father did and I took it over when he wasn't using it any more. I was always jealous of my cousin's Commodore 64 because it was so much more awesome. It had diskettes! :shake: And he had a NES and later SNES too! But then the PCs came along and the playing field got more or less even fast. Ah, those were the days...

My problem at the moment is how far back I want to go. I mean, how expensive is it going to be to find a Magnavox console?

I bagged a working Dreamcast today from a car boot sale, £12. Also got myself a rather beaten but perfectly functional bass guitar. Let the good times roll!

Far worse than hunting down the consoles is hunting down the good games in a nice condition with packaging and manuals. You can get a SNES for maybe 15-25 EUR but a
(German) Super Metroid with packaging and manual will be 40-60 EUR.

I'm collecting SNES games (what I consider to be the best out there) and Handheld games (Gameboy classic/color/advanced).

Ah, memories! Mine burned out eventually. Probably Flight Simulator overload or something like that. :shake:

They were reasonably advanced, actually - a full 64 kB memory! (Of course 16 of those kB were ROM so there was only 48 kB RAM available to the user.)

If you happen to have a Lite-Bright in that trenchcoat of yours, we might have ourselves a serious conversation.

If I have a Lite-Bright there, we're having more than a conversation. And I'll be sure to have you arrested while you're at it. :p
