For some reason whenever I enter Merella's Cabin in the Umar hills my game crashes. While irritating, it does prevent the Temple Ruins from becoming accessible.

Does anyone know how to make the Temple Ruins appear even if I cannot enter the Ranger's Cabin? Anything would help as I do not want to miss that area.

    Thanks.

Don`t think you can make the ruins apear without entering the cabin. No idea what the problem is though. Could be the lack of a patch, or something. Or some compability issues with another program running in the background.

Is your game fully patched? I can't think of anything. Perhaps it's linked to some script not running or a conflict or some corrupted file.

Is it the first time you experience these crashes?

I'm not sure about this but does anyone know if the cache might be responsible for something like that?

I had an issue like that at Spellhold. Check to find the file name for the cabin and re-copy it from your CD/DVD, as the file for that sub-area may be corrupted.

    Thanks all.

I used to not have this problem, but I did a reinstall recently and this was the first time I went to the cabin.

I copied the area files from the CDs to my hard drive, but I still get the crash.

I have uninstalled any mod that seemed to relate to that area, but it did not help.

I will start a new game after the above changes and see if it has improved. I would hate to have to do another reinstall.

    Thanks.

Try typing CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1102") in debug menu. You'll end up in a phantom hallway that surrounds Merella's Cabin. You'll need to also type CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys() in the debug menu as well so you can type Ctrl+J to teleport into the cabin proper. That should get you into the cabin. Otherwise, you can also type CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1404") to teleport to the Temple Ruins.

This is typical of a corrupted file. You can unistall your game from the Control Panel's "Add Remove Programs" tab and your saved games, custom portraits, and screen shots will not be deleted. (Back them up just to be safe). Then re-install your game and any mods. Run the game, load your save, and move on. If you have the disk space, do a full install. If the install hangs, or if the problem persists, it's possible you have a bad disk.
