Well after my friend's started to enjoy new things like Dragon Age, I decided to start a new round of Baldur's Gate. This will be my first time through with any real amount of mods (played fairly vanilla Tutu) before, and am hoping it will be a semi-new experience. First of for the original (+TotSC) here are the current mods:

    Tutu (duh)
    Tutufix
    NPC Kits
    Unfinished Business
    NPC Project
    BG2 Tweaks
Various Cosmetic mods (BG1 GUI, NPC music, etc)

My character is going to be TN Cleric/Thief because I have always wanted to, but decided to cheat and be a half-elf instead of a gnome. Early on my party was going to consist of Kivan, Imoen (dualed to mage at level 3- 100% find traps), Viconia, Shar-Teel, and Kagain. Things changed when I found out that Kivan REALLY doesn't like Viconia, so I reluctantly replaced him with Koran (could have done Branwen over Viconia, but I wanted to see what Vic's character was like with the NPC project). The one thing I don't like is that I'll have three characters with thief levels in the party, but it works out considering my levels will go to Pick pocket and open locks, Imoen is the trap finder, and Coran is the stealthy fellow. Fun party so far.

Really though, I started this thread to get some ideas about good mods for BG2 when I get there. I've never played with any mods for SoA so it could be an exciting experience for me.

*Please tell me Imoen get's a little more mature throughout the NPC project content. She's driving me nuts, haha.

    Mods for SoA?

Unfinished Business, Quest Pack, Keto, Hubelpot, Angelo, Assassinations come to mind.

That's apart from old mods like Kelsey, Valen and Solaufein. Valen and Solaufein are rather ovepowered though.

I'll probably go back to BG myself after playing through Dragon Age a few more times. ;)

Warning on Assassinations - if you are playing a good party, this will be tough because if you do all the missions (which is pretty much necessary to continue the quest) you will lost a minimum of 4 reputation.

Good point Saber, I did notice Chicken was playing a TN character that may or may not be a problem but it's still a pretty good mod nonetheless. ;)

Alright, well chronic restarter syndrome has already hit and I am debating starting over. Most of this is due to the fact that a cleric/thief at low levels may be the most boring character possible... ugh.

Watching Shar-Teel work people up front makes me want to try a fighter, Coran's archery makes me want to be a ranged specialist. And I almost want to go back to my roots and play through as an Avenger (as I did my first time through the game). Mages are no temptation though, I figure that any NPC mage does the exact same stuff pretty much :p

Ok, well gotta stick with it. For now. Maybe I'll think of BG2 parties and decide for sure from there.

Oh and if the assassinations mod is good, I'll play it. I chose TN to give the most flexibility towards whatever I felt like doing.

    Or being a sorcerer :)

If you intent to play ToB I'd really recomend Ascension and Wheels of Prophecy, which enhance the story and the choices you can make a little. I still think ToB has a fairly weaker writing than the rest of the series though.

I really liked the Angelo NPC mod.

Item Revisions is also really nice, it balances out a lot of stuff so that you actually have to think about what equipment you'll want for each party member instead of using the same overpowered items every game.

If you're up for a difficulty increase I'd recomend SCSII (very good!).

And then there are the banther packs which will give more interaction between party members.

Hey, does anyone know if there's a way to check the amount of gametime there is on a save? I'm curious about how long it's actually taking me to get through the game. Thanks.

Like, how much real time you've played?

Try this (not sure if it will work):

    CLUAConsole:CheckRealTime()
