I CLUA'd a druid to 8mil XP and casted Deva and it didn't have haste.

In any case, this is unmodded BG. No class is hard to solo.

That's weird. I got the info from here. I reference the site often and the technical stuff had always been dependable thus far.

Yes, I usually find that site quite dependable as well. A never ending source of amusement and exploits. Summoning my own Deva, however, I get the following spell selection:
    • Remove fear
    • Cure disease
    • Dispel magic
    • Remove curse
    • Neutralize poison
    • Cure critical wounds
    • Chaos
    • Globe of blades
Quite a few too many from the spell reference site, it would seem.

I believe deva's are hasted, but whether or not they cast haste is really immaterial -- all the party members have some sort of haste item by the time you can summon a deva.

    Devas aren't hasted, planetars are.

In many ways Devas are inferior to Planetars, but I have recently discovered their usefulness against undead. Devas apparently have a disruption property on their weapon. My solo druid summoned a Deva against a high level lich + greater mummy encounter in the Shadow Forest Temple. Deva killed the lich in one hit! I have been using the Deva against other lich encounters with fairly consistent success. I can't wait to try the Deva against Kangaxx... with a Prot from Magic or Undead scroll activated!

Soloing a druid currently, favourite class but it felt futile to try and solo them so I never have. However, I've taken the liberty of adding a few tweaks to the class for my run since they seem so weak...tried not to unbalance it though:

    - avenger spells added. It really adds some necessary lower-level spells which are otherwise rather uninteresting slots. Shapeshifting removed completely.
    - base 1.5 attacks per round at level 11, raised to 2 at lvl15. Always felt that priests/rogues were unfairly bad at combat....less THAC0, no specialisation (=even less THAC0, less damage), limited weapon selection, no warrior strength (=even less THAC0 and damage!), worse armour, and then 1-2 attacks per round less than a warrior? Come on, that's over the top. I don't want a fighter/druid in one class, I just want the druid's combat to actually justify his inferior spellcasting to a mage!
    - rogue rebalancing mod for the druid shield and other bucklers added (a single +1 buckler in bg2? ridiculous), questpack for the red scimitar

Anyway, with this, I'm having a lot of fun so far. At lvl13 and just about done most of the Athkatla quests (not Unseeing Eye), but now I have to go and do some of the tougher ones outside of Athkatla and then we shall see if my game ends prematurely. Having solo'd a fighter/mage/thief and a beserker, this is definitely not as easy as those were, but the druid has some efficient ways to deal with some tough situations (half-thanks to the avenger spells) which has been a nice surprise. It's rather cool to wander around with an elemental or shambling mould at your service. However, I'm already skeptical of the long-term ability of the druid not to suck. Let's see.

I'm at lvl 14 I think... so far it has been incredibly easy... more easy than even other traditionally more powerful classes.

I can only cast nature's beauty once right now but thats enough to render any battle with a mob completely easy.

The only thing that has been tough so far is the battle with the warden of the planar prison, because some stupid mod that I uninstalled did not properly uninstall that component so the warden was way more powerful than normal and had 5 yuan-ti mages and a few greater yuan-ti with him.

I don't recall ever beating the sewer party so easily as with my avenger...

Nature's beauty is probably overpowered... it makes fights vs mobs too easy.

The only forseeable challenge will be against single highly powerful foes, and/or anything strong that is immune to blindness.

Items make up for almost every "deficiency".

I took on the Planar Prison Warden with my solo druid a few days ago. I think that mob of yuan-ti is a normal part of the unmodded game, as a mob spawn that scales with party level. Level 14 is pretty high, so you're likely getting the toughest spawns. I could be wrong, it's been soooooo long since I've played an unmodded game!

Oh - I took on Kangaxx (unmodded) yesterday. The Deva was worthless!!! Well almost. The Deva killed the normal lich form in one hit, as expected, but his/her weapon wouldn't even scratch the Demi-lich form. I ended up resorting to the lame/boring tactic of using a Protection from Undead scroll on my druid and then hacking away with a +5 dagger (Xvimian Fang from the Underrepresented Items mod). Boring. It was that or try to spawn as many summons as possible for Imprisonment fodder and blast that skull with energy blades. Hmmmm...
