If you build the temple/shrine as you build up the keep more do you have the option of dedicating it to whatever D&D god the protagonist follows or does it have to be dedicated to tyr?

I'm not against it being for a good D&D god in the game, it is just that there are many to pick from in character generation and you may not pick tyr so it makes some sense to build it for another as you run the keep.

It would, it becomes extremely stupid when you are evil.
But tyr or the monastery of the sun soul thingy are the only two options. It would have been nice if they had made 3 priests, a good, a neutral and an evil.
And then just used whatever god you had chosen on character creation in the temples name and in the priests dialog

Well, since Tyr is the god most worshipped in Neverwinter, it does make some sense.

After all the Knight Captain is representing Neverwinter in Crossroads Keep.

And you do have the option to be Dread Lord of the Keep if you are evil, if you don't build the church, don't recruit Joy and Light of Heavens, and build the wizard tower and recruit Caelryna and Uncus....

so basically if you deliberately are inefficient you get a title that do nothing...

Yeah, but at least you get to RP one evil way.

But they could have let Axle reward the Knight Captain with some nice items for sabotaging the Keep.

After all getting Warden of the Keep Epithet Feat for doing a good job does get you a nice mace and a nice charm.

well killing axle gives some decent items, including a +4 shortsword with something something efects, so that is at least one way an evil char can get some rewards.

Yeah, plus Caelryna and Uncus has some pretty interesting items at the Keep.

But the developers did run out of time with Crossroad Keep, and had to drop some ideas.

You were supposed to be able to make a gambling hall, as Jalboun Two-Blades actually suggest in the game.

And a druid glade where Naevan the Archdruid would reside if you solved the Circle of the Mere.

Since they dropped those ideas, I think designing the church for different deities was pretty low on their list.

designing the church for other deities would have been easier though, a simply check alignment and god of PC then spawn appropriate priest would have been relatively easy and wouldn't need to make a new area as such

    I agree.

    It would have been easy.

Bottom line with the Keep is most of it doesn't really matter. You basically are just getting glorified shops and even shops aren't that useful in the late game as you can craft better stuff than they sell. Even upgrading the armor and weapons of your soldiers doesn't seem to have much of an impact on the game. You can avoid all the upgrades and just save your money but then, as I said, who needs to buy stuff when you can craft uber gear yourself?

The only time it is worth adding the temple/church is if you are a monk and select to build the temple for the monk. The temple leader teaches monk character new abilities.

Also, the upgrades to solider, etc don't really do anything. You could leave the keep as is or you can spend the money; it is your call.

I personally spend the money as I like to try to role play my character as much as possible.

sad but true. One more reason why I hate the crafting in NWN2, not only does it take away the fun of finding weapons and armor in the dungeons (after all they are just vendor trash thanks to the crafting) but even getting special shops is near pointless as again, the unique gear is usually subpar compared to crafted gear.

My understanding that most of the building you can do is done for the sake of the area/storyline ending.

That is make the keep bigger, stronger, and more complex/socially interactive so that it stays functional in the area after your character disappears.

I read (in a different thread) the Gray Cloaks give you something if you do everything perfectly for them (recruiting all possible leaders for them, building the thing for Tyr, and giving them good equipment). But even that thing (I don't know what it is) may not be so interesting.

Perhaps the problem is the reward for doing a given thing isn't viewable beyond a change in cutscene or epilogue. I would do it for those reasons alone, but I can see a reasonable argument to have more effects that appear during play.

I have read many things on the building up the keep; it is only really worth build the Monk Temple as it provides a Monk character some special abilities as the Monk leader provides the character training.

As for crafting, etc... If you build a Church/Temple for the Cleric the best shield in the game can be purchased there.

As for crafting vs. shops; if you are like me and don't want to waste you energy crafting every piece of equipment go ahead and use the shops instead.

The only thing I ever craft is my main PC weapon. And it is usually around level 13-15 since I my PC uses an Adamininte weapon.
