I have played BG with joy for a while, but is totally stuck. I have got hints to many quests but the places dont't show up on the map (Ulcasters Schhol, Cloakwood etc...), alas impossible to get there... What do I do wrong and how do I get them to show?

Anyone that can help me? Do I need to reinstall?

I have also read in some walkthrough that there is a Ring of Wizadry outside the Friendly Inn - can't fid it, Ankeghs south of the Halfling village - can't find them. Even the evil characters outside Candle Keep where dad is killed are not there...

[IMG] Some places are unreachable until a certain chapter e.g. cloakwood is not present on the map till chapter 4.

I see.. How do I close chapter 3? I can't acess the Bandit Camp - can't even get north of Friendly Arm Inn. How about Ulcaster, when should I be able to reach that. And how about Bassilus? I can't find him either.

You can just walk to Ulcaster when you want to. To get to the bandit camp, just talk to the woman in the Jovial Juggler (an inn south in Beregost). She will mark the bandit camp on your map.

Remember that if you want to go to a place you haven't been before, you have to go to the area next to it and then leave that area in the direction of the new place.

What do you mean the evil people around where your dad died? I'm assuming you mean those who ambush you and gorion. But they leave and you won't meet them again for some time. What gave you the idea they would still be there?

the ring of wizardry dissapears if u install any patches for the game...

    *** Ring of Wizardry ***
    Map: Friendly Arm Inn
Coordinates: x = 2552, y = 3760 (if you have the patch installed, the ring won't be there)
Effect: Doubles the amount of spells a mage can memorize
Another ring of wizardry can be found in the city of Baldur's Gate. It is on a mage on the same map as the Flaming Fist headquarters in a house in the southwest corner. Be prepared for a tough fight when you enter, but the reward is worth it!

HOLD DOWN L and Coordinates will appear where ur mouse is.

    Thanks!
The guys I was mentioning are the ones supposed to join my team, however I think maybe I met them...

Well, the Bandit Camp is marked on the map but I can not go there (click on it). I guess I need to find that woman... The camp came on the map after I had met Tazrok.

Still, Ulcaster is not on my map so I can't go there. I will try to leave the southern location (below Ulcaster) in the northern direction and then I know...

The Ring of Wizadry is probably lost as I installed Sword Coast at the same time as BG. What about the supposed Ankeghs by the Halfling village?

    Again Thanx!

I just re-installed BG and TOTSC and the ring of Wizardry IS still there, so try it adn see. It is very hard to see, so don't give up on it too quickly.

I am assuming that you realise that you must move off of the map in the direction you want to go for an "unseen" area to appear on your world map. In other words if you are at the Friendly Arm Inn, walk all the way to the north of the inn (outside of course) and exit the map to the north. You should see farm appear on your world map when you do this. there are LOTS AND LOTS of areas you can go, but you must exit the map in the right direction for these areas to appear. Let me know if this was helpful at all.

Thanx! Now I am on the track again, though the Ring of Wizadry is and will be undetectable. Ithink I combed the grass under the tree for 30 min without finding it. Pressing L gave me the coordinates but no ring...

    Thanx anyway!
    Maybe not soo befuddled...

    That ring rules:

    The unanswered questions:

    - To visit Ulcaster, go one map north of Beregost and to the eastern border, click on the edge to leave the map, and Ulcaster should appear... You can also try to go to the temple, east of Beregost and then to the north

    - Basillus and his undead friends are in the map south of High Hedge (west of Beregost). He is in the southeastern part of the map.

I think you can't go to the bandit camp directly for you have to visit also the areas surrounding Bandit Camp, just explore the east and go north until you are in the Bandit Camp.

[IMG] I am also trying to get to the bandit camp. I hadn't been to Larswood, Peldvale etc. and the camp didn't appear on my map when I killed Tranzig in Beregost (I presumed because I hadn't done Lar & Peld).
So I went to Vai (for the second time and she just harps on about bringing her more scalps - there's no dialogue chance to get her to mark the map !).
Have also gone to the North exit of Lar & Peld and bandit camp still doesn't show up.
    Can anyone figure this out?
Also, does anyone know how to store your gear someplace safe, instead of lugging it about all the time? I've tried to put it in barrels and chests with no success.

Your items shouldn't dissappear from chests or barrels, provided you remember where you put them. :)

Officer Val will never mark your map with the location of hte bandit camp - she doesn't know where it is. What you have to do is find a person in either Larswood or Pelvdale and tell him that you are interested in joining the bandits. He will then take you to the camp.

You can reach the Bandit Camp from Peldvale without talking to anyone.

Indeed, go explore the area's (also Larswood etc), it will give you a chance to kill Tazok and get his gauntlets. Officer Vai only asks you to get rid of the bandits in the region, she doesn't know where the camp is. She will remain, until you killed the leaders of the bandit camp, and then reward you.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I've been all over Larswood and Peldvale, but I killed the guy who wanted to take me to the camp thinking I could get there myself. Maybe not such a good idea. I think my last savegame before him is 5 to 10 days previous! Can you think of any other way to get the location? I take it there are no other "nice" people wandering around who might show me the way (in the game - not you people!)

How exactly do you put items in chests or barrels?
As you look in barrels/chests, you get a small view of your backpack and I thought you could move items from that into the container, but I couldn't select my item !!

Reading the official blurb from Bioware (I think) they talk about a 'party pool'. Was this idea eventually dropped, or am I missing something obvious?

There are two places where you can join the bandits and so be brought to the Bandit Camp:

    1. Raiken. He is in the north-east of Peldvale.

    2. Teven, he centre-west of Larswood

I f you killed them both, you can just walk to the bandit camp yourself, you only missed Tazoks gauntlets but I shouldn't play 10 days again for only that.

The Bandit Camp is just north of Peldvale, East of the map above Friendly Arm Inn.
