[IMG] For all those horribly misguided pathetic fools who think that minsc is cool becasue of boo, thn you are sorely mistaken and need to get a life before your lack of socialness destroys your self image for the rest of your......life. Minsc is a joke. He doesnt say anything worthwhile, and if youve had him for one chapter, youve had him for the whole game.

Edwin is ridiculous. He is useless in ToB. (sorry for the blasphemy). Edwina is funny, for those who have got that far in Edwins quest, and for those who have spoken to the elven punce in CC, then you will no my meaning.

Jan however, is golden for the whole trip. With stories on uncle spanky and his infamous thumb and his passing mentions of griffins and the mobile vegetable peddling business. he is a theif, he is amage, he is a laugh, all in one. And he has his uses. Again with the blasphemy, his conversation in ToB with sarevoc and his mentioning of Binky is worth a million Boos.

[IMG] Yes, Jan's the Man (or gnome) - he may be physically weak but he seldom fails to pick a lock or disarm a trap almost right from when you first get him. His stories are quite amusing!

If i had to choose 1, I guess I'd choose Jan, closely followed by Viconia, Mazzy, Aerie, Yoshimo, Minsc (I like him), Korgan, Edwin

And then at the other end, the most boring depressing characters have to be the two treehugging Druids, Jaheira and even worse, Cernd! Sure, they have good spells and can change into animals, but unless you insist on doing Jaheria's romance, neither of them have much amusing to say!

And what about Valygar? The silent one! All he talks about on the rare occasions he does talk is about how much he hates magic.

[IMG] I really need to ad him in, he needs a slot in the game, and he is in the prologue. Xan!!!!
    The forest is so depressing.
    The city is so depressing.
    This dungeon is so depressing.
    We're all doomed.

    I love pessimism.

The glass is, apart from popular beleif, on its way to hell.

My most useful and fun NPC is Jan, however I think Haer'Dalis rocks in his style ;)

I like Keldorn and Viconia. I HATE Jan, he's just the most annoying little bastard I've ever seen. and Minsc is almost as irritating.

I like Keldorn cause he can actually hold his own in a fight, unlike those sissy mages.

It depends on what you are looking for.

Jan is a good mage and a good thief. Being both at the same time makes him agreat NPC...although he has a rather large family...

For romance, Viconia rocks (Aerie is toooo shy, Jaheira toooo unbalanced - and to think she is a druid !).

I prefer Minsc for his attitude ("Evil, meet Boot! Boot, meet But Of Evil!")

Although I am always the dominant mage, I took Edwin because I love spellcasters- mostly wizardly. But most powerful mage in the game? Hardly... Davaeorn would humiliate him!

Keldorn's gettin' old, them bones are probably acting up with arthritis... ;)

Minsc is powerful but too stupid ( :aww: ) to know the invaluable thing called preparation. He'll barge into a room of beholders, demi-liches and a dragon and think he can win. Which he can't. :bang:

Jan is alright, but I don't see him as most powerful. Maybe a close second or third.

Viccy is a good cleric and her control undead ability is priceless, but I think Edwin could take her.

Haer'Dalis would probably follow Jan. Never loved him, never will.

So it seems to me that Edwin takes the cake. Or maybe coffee. :coffee:
Gotta get me some coffee... :coffee: ...Ahhhhhhhhh...

  10. Soul here. I don't really have an opinion here, but I'd like to point out here, as I did on the Ps:T version of this poll, that NPCs are characters that can't join the group, not just characters that aren't the hero. Imoen is a PC. Irenicus is an NPC. If you can take direct control of a character, then they are a PC.

I like Keldorn best because his Dispel Magic is so powerful and has saved me and my party's asses too many times to not be agknowleged.

Second is Valygar because with Celestial Fury and his family blade, he's is one slicin' machine!

[IMG] Though techically they could be called PCs, no one uses that term. BioWare themselves have been using NPC for all characters that can join the party since BG1 on, so this is the established term. An NPC in this case is someone who was not created by the player (unlike the protagonist), so the term NPC is quite correct.

The best NPC's for personality are definitely the "off-color" (crazy) characters like Minsc and Jan.

The best NPC's for utility have to be the excellent fighters like Keldorn, Valygar, and Minsc.

What do you know? Minsc is in both categories.

    Jaheira

I just love playing druids, and she can tank a bit too.

Also has the best storyline and background, especially since she has known you for quite a while.

Keldorn. Being an Inquisitor he gets cool abilities. Plus he can wield Carsomyr, I think the only NPC who can. He's a tank with it and Gauntlets of Dex. :D
