    Ohhh, yeah! Looks like that black dragon is about to feel some serious pain. IIRC, distintegrate does 2d6 damage / caster level, and I'm gonna assume that V's caster level is at least 20. So 40d6 points of damage. At an average of 3.5 points per roll, that's 140 points of pain. Nobody can take that sort of damage without seriously considering leaving the field of battle.

    Disintegrate is a 6th level spell, requiring Automatic Quicken Spell II to work, which requires a spellcraft of 30. This would mean V is between 23rd and 27th level on the low end. If the levels (or even experience) are additive for all four, he/she/it would be at least 40th level -- that dragon is toast.

    IIRC you can get Sudden Quicken before hitting Epic levels. It costs a whack of feats (7, I just looked it up) but it is highly cool. Nevertheless, if he's quickening that spell the way you thought, at level 27 that would mean an average amount of damage of 189 HP! That would have to be a pretty tough dragon to survive that!

    [​IMG] Just speculating: Maybe V. gets a buttload of spells to cast from the soul splice, but is still limited to his/her caster level in terms of hit dice and such. V.'s level is probably lower than that of the deceased archmages.

    That ends the Black Dragon -- now the question is whether or not V can resist the temptation to hang onto the soul splice. Heaven knows (s)he might decide to go and do the same thing to Xykon, which would end the lich storyline REAL soon -- though if V turns totally to the dark side, (S)HE might take up Xykon's quest and become the one gunning for the gates!

    Thanks, dmc. I was wondering what that last panel was all about.

    @Merlanni - I agree about the multiple plotlines. But ever since shortly after Roy died, the plots have been draggy and boring. I'm finding this one fairly interesting.

    A thank you from me as well, dmc - I spent five minutes staring at that photograph and trying to determine a) what was written on the shirts and b) what it meant. :shake:

    V.'s line: "This - and no less - is the price for threatening my family." was great, imo.

    "This time of year" is March Madness for the NCAA basketball tournament -- note the title the strip was "Madness."

    Both the Sun Devils and the Blue Devils made the tournament this year. ASU lost in the second round, while Duke just lost yesterday.
