If this has already been addressed in another thread, my apologies - but I couldn't find it.

I want to be able to give my OC companions prestige classes, since some of them easily qualify. I know this is hardcoded, but is there a workaround, mod or hack available that can fix this? I'd really like it to be the case.

I don't care much about doing this in MotB. Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

Just a short answer, I have to run: yes there are, I've seen discussion about them (on these boards?); check the vault.

Thanks, but I've spent over an hour on the IGN NWVault web site, and I can't find even a mention of it. Very disorganized, that place (God bless you, Tal).

Do you remember where you saw it? Have you used it?

Thanks Equestor, this is perfect. Just so I know - what did you type into google? Because I feel like a bumbling idiot now...

UPDATE: I'm definitely an idiot, but you all knew that. When I just now typed in "NWN2+companion multi-class" to see what would happen, it came right up. Before I was doing "NWN2+giving companions prestige classes," which just brought up FAQ pages.

I guess the term "multi-class" is burned into my cerebrum as strictly 2nd-Edition terminology.

It's also possible to devel them to level 1 and relevel them up to where they should be. Makes it a lot easier to qualify them for prestige classes. To delevel you need to open the console, select the NPC, and type "resetlevels" this will give you a big number. Now, type "resetlevels ##### 1" where ##### is that big number you got earlier. The "1" is actually what it sets their XP to, not level. Now type "givexp" and whatever number of XP you want to give them.

The problem is they are stuck with whatever their 1st class choice was, so Neeshka will always have that 1 Rogue level no matter what.

That's fine, I think. I don't want to radically change everyone. I'd still keep Neeshka's base class as Rogue. I want to make her into an Invisible Blade, with maybe a level of Shadow Dancer. Grobnar I want to make into an Arcane Trickster, and maybe I can make Sand into a Red Wizard or Arcane Scholar. Shandra I'd likely add Ranger levels to, before she...herm, leaves. :)

Anyway, bottom line is I like everyone's base class. I just wish Grobnar was an Elf or Half-elf so I could make him into an Arcane Archer.

hehe exactly, I think my search was "nwn 2 oc npc multiclass" which brings the link I posted as number 1 hit.

glad it worked, I might try it myself on my next run through, especially after having played SoZ.

Edit: red wizard will be hard for Sand, as it is a Human only PRC :p, that said wiz10/ASoC10 beats wizard 20 any day

Update: I'm an even bigger idiot.

I posted a thread on this very topic, asking almost the exact same question, almost 2 years ago.
