[IMG] Just returning to playing the game after a few years off and looking through the board I see that people STILL fail to get the Mazzy love.

So why do y'all hate our prim little Brit hobbit?

I have to say she is a staple for my groups as support archer.

Fairly early in the game you can give her the Tuigan bow and she is up to 5 attacks a round. FIVE!!! By then you will surely have lots of good arrows like acid and fire. And she is then SUPERB. Especially against Mage-types who when taking constant acid damage fail to get off any spells quite often.

Add this to me flailing in with the FOA and mage opponents seem strangely 'de-fanged'.

So will you now all admit that she is the second most vital NPC next to Boo ( ;) ) or will you continue to defy us...and why? :(

Mazzy is especially good when combined with a monk. I had a female monk, Anomen, Keldorn, Mazzy, and Jan (just for fun) -- great party.

Are you kidding? Mazzy rocks. Isn't she like one of the only straight up fighters in the game?

I can agree that she is useful, with true grandmastery in shortbows and with the cute little halfling saving throw bonuses, in addition to her special powers and sword, she is a solid NPC, no doubt! I personally prefer melee-oriented fighters for tanks, and rip enemies to pieces with magic from a distance.

Screw Minsc, give me Mazzy any day. That girl can murdernate anything.

I am a determined, stalwart Mazzy fan - as 8people could probably attest. :p

Archer? Screw that, slap a Halberd in her hands. She's a great melee combatant as well.

Why halberd? With the tuigan bow that gives the extra attack she is easily the most capable archer in the game for a good aligned party, and then there are those handy shortswords, like the one with the extra attack. I teamed her with my halfling cavalier.

Mazzy makes an appearance in my party in every game I play. She's very versatile. I don't really understand where you're getting the notion that nobody likes Mazzy because it looks like alot of people are in agreement that Mazzy is very useful.

Very useful no doubt, though seems best equipped at the start as an archer, and an archer CHARNAME is much more powerful...

Well I recently came back onto the board after a few years off and looked through old threads. In most threads that discussed NPC's Mazzy seemed to get a bad rap. Minsc and Keldorn had a lot of love and Edwin was a fave of the mage-heads. Imoen was another that recieved little or no love.

I just wanted to redress the balance in a thread (rather than resurrect 2 year old threads) and I am glad that people seem to have come around to Mazzy's delights. For me she is a lethal weapon if given the Tuigan bow. 5 shots a round with acid arrows disrupts even the best spellcasters and obviously she mows down most normal foes.

This is making me wish I had the time to play the game again. Talk about a great game - so replayable.

Olivia de Havilland in her prime playing Mazzie, that might have been something to see. ;)

She is good at hand to hand, I don't think she is as good as Keldorn but she works well. I think the Halberd is a good idea for her as she just switches from 2-handed weapon to 2-handed weapon. Giving her a short sword seems like a waste unless you fight with a different weapon in each hand and even then you can give her a better 2nd weapon.

In my experience she is best kept as a bow specialist with sword and shield 'in case'. As a tank she does not cut it and it ignores her BIG advantage...the GM of bows.

Just try it and you'll see.

She may be the most capable archer NPC, but she's even better in melee.
