hi guys, I am going to return to BG trilogy once again after many years. But before I do so, I was wondering if anyone can tell me the greatest mods I can install, mods that will add a whole lot more content, such as, quests, characters/creatures, items, spells, difficulty etc etc, all to BG1 saga.

    thanks guys.

[IMG] BGTuTu? As you said saga, I presume you own the whole trilogy. Let's you play BG1 as the game through BG2 as the program

BG1NPC project, BG1 Unfinished Business, tweaks.

On reflection you may want EasyTutu, I never got it working personally, but a lot of people have fun with it.

Take a peek here I can attest most of the mods work absolutely fine with each other and are quite high quality, though I haven't played all as not all appeal to me.

Hard Times for plain old tutu would be nice if I could find it :rolling:

If you want a lot more content, install more mods. Check the readme files to see if they are what you're looking for. I admit I haven't played 'vanilla' BG1 with many mods, only with tutu applied.

so whats difference between BGTutu and easyTutu, which is better, more stable?

Also, I have heard of other mods, something like, Fields of the dead, darkest day, and a few others, wondering if anyone knows how compatible they are with each other and tutu?

EDIT: just stumbled accross, BGT mod, which is similar to Tutu and has a large mod compatability. Does anyone know if it is better than tutu?

Ahh, now there is these mods called SMM and BWP, and when I looked at the info on each, there is like a million pages and steps to read and follow on how to install each one. This is so daunting I am considering giving up. I just read like 10 pages of info on SMM, and there seems to be too many bugs to even bother.

    Is BWP any better?

I'm curious about that myself, I've never played any of the mods before. I'm playing easy tutu straight up right now, but I'm looking around for stuff that has new quests, characters, or items, not really for cheats.

Easy Tutu works fine and is better than regular Tutu (I tried both, Easy Tutu is more user friendly).

I'm partial to the NPC mod, unfinished business and Finch.

Well I am giving a crack at SMM Auto installation. Hopefully it works, it sounds like exactly what I wanted.

Shouldn't this post be in the BG2 Thorne of Bhaal post as it is discussing mods to the game?

That's kinda what I thought, but I'm new here and I figured you all knew what goes where. Myself, I get a little mixed up, . . well, actually thats the story of my life - everyone thought everyone else knew what they were doing

Wait, we are in ToB, arent we? Uff, dont pay any attention to me

I wouldn't get overly concerned over the differences between Easy and non-Easy Tutu. Like Caradhras, I just use Easy Tutu- much easier to set everything up.

Not much 'better' as 'different'. It is more down to personal preference between the two. I would go for EasyTutu myself.

Mega-mod installs? Hmm. As far as I am aware, BWP is no better.

As you've mentioned the likes of The Darkest Day, I would advise a great deal of caution when deciding on including it or a similar mod to your install. The best use of TDD is as an example of what not to do when making a mod. There are a large number of mods available that aren't as unstable as some of the bigger stuff.

So Baldur's Gate is considered a trilogy?

There is Baldur's Gate and its expansion Tales of the Sword Coast. There is also Baldur's Gate 2 and its expansion Throne of Bhaal.

How are we getting that this is a "3 part" series? Is Tales of the Sword Coast not really included in this as it doesn't really do anything to advance the main story line, and the other 3 "parts" do?

A trilogy in the sense that there are three main parts to the story-line: BG1, SoA and ToB. Represents the three stages of Charname coming into his/her own, I believe. TotSC generally just counts as part of BG1 because, as you said, it doesn't affect the story. While ToB is also an expansion, it does move the story on- by quite a bit.

Hence BGT standing for 'Baldur's Gate Trilogy'.

Am i right in thinking Throne of Bhaal was supposed to be the 3rd baldrs gate game then due to various factors it just ended up being an expansion?

I think it is still an ex pack. It was sold as such and isn't as large as SoA despite the fact that it does expand the story.
