[IMG] Do the prices in shops vary based on your Charisma? or your Reputation? or both?

also, is it based on JUST your character? or whomever approaches the seller?

From my experience, shop prices are based on both charisma and reputation, and only depends on the CHA of the main character.

Party reputation and the group leader's charisma. So put that paladin at the topmost position.

Dont waste too many points on Charisma. When you defeat that dwarf to rescue Aerie in the Circus tent you will recieve a ring which increases your Charisma to 18!!
Just put it on before you enter the shop and voila!!And yes depending on your Reputation you do get discounts. If your rep is 20 you should get a 50% discount in most all shops.

More spoilers: buy the blade of roses longsword +3, +2 charisma. Till the end of ToB it's going to be your shopping weapon ;)

Helm of glory is what you get if you're a paladin. Another +1. For goodies +2 permanent from Hell trials. For all +1 permanent from Lum's machine. It's possible to finish the saga with 22 total charisma without buffs.

If only goodies were getting as much discount in RL :shake:

I't is the highest charimsa in the party that is the one that counts. So it doesn't have to be paladin who makes the talk. Try for yourself and see.

Yeah, but because Paladins have to have a minimum of 17 CHA, this is usually the highest in the party, Keldorn has the highest NPC CHA being a paladin. :)

Okay... thanks folks... but let's do the math...

If a 20 rep gets you 50% off.... what does Ch do for you?

How high can you get Ch? and what discount do I get?

Bear in mind that I'm ALREADY getting 15% off in the Copper Coronet..... plus 50% off for my 20 rep.... all I need to get from Ch is another 35% AND I GET MY STUFF FOR FREE!!! Wheeee.... wheeeeeee !!!!! Yeah!

... better than buying at Sams.....

And on top of all those other items there is that one cloak you can get a couple of ways. I think it is the nymph cloak or something. I don't remember exactly what it was.

The shopp keeper in Mae'Var's Guild has the nymph cloak, so you must buy from him first before you revealed that Mae'Var is really a traitor.

[IMG] Yeah! got it! O.K. with the Nymph's cloak, and the Sword of Roses.... I have Keldorn's CH up to 22...O.K.... so how high does it need to get to give me the last 35% off? Are there any potions I can drink?

Hey, I could open my own shop... "Spoogemonkey's discount wares" or "Adventurers R Us" or "Charisma Mart" or.... or.....

use the rod of terror, until it drains your CHA down to 2 or 3, then equip the ring of human influence to raise it up to 18. Keep using the rod until your CHA would be below 0 then take off the ring of human influence and your CHA will be 25.
I think yhis might only work with the PC though.
Sort of cheating, but I feel less guilty exploiting game bugs than editing using SK or CLUA Console

[IMG] I thought you went insane when your ch went to zero...

    How does this trick work?

Why does it only jump to 25? 25 is not a total of anything?

How would the Nymph cloak and Sword of Roses affect the trick?

I believe 25 is the maximum allowed total for any stat, regardless of what bonuses you get.
