I was somewhat disappointed by the last two books. I'm hoping that "The Hounds" will pickup the pace a bit, and that Erikson gets some balance back in the books again. It's tiresome to have these Mega Super characters who can destroy the univerese, but have trouble finding their way and walking a few miles in open country. Erikson needs to get a grip on his characters.

Well, about that. I am reading the last chapters now and it is good. It is really good and now in the middle of the end of the book he has killed off two super-mega characters. I must say that I at best find myself questioning to the use of Kruppe as narrator in large bits of the books. I honestly do not know what I think but Erikson is definately getting more poetic and I would say Toll is more like the two previous books than the earlier ones.

Hmm as you can see by my comment here Erikson as usual leaves me as a reader quite confused and off balance. His work is always so hard to grasp.

"Half-Marathon" by Jon Ackland. It's a pretty sensible training guide.

Philip Pullman's Once upon a time in the North, a prequel novella to His dark materials. Pretty entertaining.

Of sorts. Nothing to do with Lyra or Dust. It's like a side adventure of Lee Scoresby and tells how he first met Iorek. I always liked Lee and wished to see a bit more of him in the trilogy so I was happy that Pullman decided to go back and revisit the character.

The last book in the Vattas war sequance by Elizabeth Moon. It's really good. I was a bit worried because the last book of the Serrano sequance was really hurried and a bit of a let down but this one is fab

Survival of the Fittest by Mike Stroud

Despite what it may sound like, it is basically about people pushing their bodies as far as they can go (largely based on the author's experiences) and the science behind these feats..

Fantastic book. Well worth picking up.

I'm currently reading "No country for old men" by Cormac McCarthy. That man can write.

Just finished the first book of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. I bought it 4 hours ago, opened it and couldn't put it down until I finished the story.

    Wow, just wow.

    Larry Niven's "Rainbow Mars".

I also recently re-read Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" for the umpteenth time.
