crc check means your harddisk is scratched dude.

Getting a new harddisk isn't too difficult - find out which type you need, and find a store that does harddisk-cloning. Or simply get windows reinstalled on a new disk, I did the latter for my laptop.
If you copy all personal data and games in your games folder to an external harddisk (you do have an external harddisk? otherwise get one, they're really handy), then you can simply copy-paste the data to your new install.

Obviously, your IWD2 installation is damaged, so will need reinstalling.

    Good luck.:)

[IMG] The CRC error refers to the CD, not the hard drive. The problem is with the CD, which is likely scratched, damaged or dirty. Replacing it should do the trick.

[IMG] I'm not sure now, but if he did a full installation, data is read from the harddisk, right? So it depends on his type of installation:
If a full install: CRC failure means the harddisk is damaged.
If minimal or typical: CRC refers to the CD being dirty.

a program like PC doctor can determine if his harddisk is damaged.

The original message is ambiguous, but I assume that the error shows up when transferring the files from the CD (copying, installing or caching). The OP can clarify. Of course, the data could have become corrupted on the hard drive as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the drive is bad... a full wipe and a reinstall would likely help.

lemon pledge and a nice cotton towel. The wax in the pledge helps to fill the crack and the towel helps buff it smooth
