    I've installed and updated game without problems, but weidu mods are a no go :( Console prompt with questions never pops out :(

    So if anyone is playing this on linux, what mods do you use and how?

    There are a series of posts on G3 and PPG; the bigg used to play on wine and ubuntu.

    Basically, very little out there is packaged for linux, and there is a good bit of stuff you have to do (I am trying to rectify this on the G3 side with an update and repackaging of the miscellaneous mods, but it is pretty slow going right now).

    The toughest thing is the mods that involve audio, which is a PITA and may need you to post someplace the bigg likes to hang around.

    To get most thinsg working, try this (simplified from the bigg's words):

    • start from the Mac/OSX package, lowercase everything, and remove WeiDU, sox and tisunpack executables (Linux users should have the linux versions in /usr/bin as indicated below).
    • IF THE MOD HAS AUDIO, open all .sh files and convert all filenames to lowercase (there's no need to do that in tp2s, luckily); remove all paths to old sox and tisunpack executables (I.E. "mymod/bin/tisunpack mymod/tiz/foo.tiz override/foo.tis" will become "tisunpack mymod/tiz/foo.tiz override/foo.tis". All program names go lowercase, except for WeiDU, which must be WeiDU.
    • get the latest WeiDU version from http://www.weidu.org/~thebigg and copy WeiDU, WeInstall, tisunpack and tolower into /usr/bin. Copy also sox, if not already installed (can check by typing "which sox"). AT_* ~VIEW foo~ will require Firefox in the standard WeiDU (starting from 197), to avoid viewing HTML files with less.
    • Unpack all desired mods in the bg2 directory
    • run tolower in the main bg2 directory
    • run "WeInstall name_of_tp2_without_tp2_extension" (E.G. "WeInstall bg2fixpack") for each of your files
    • wine bgmain.exe and start playing

    So, that's the deal - there are folks out there playing on wine who should be coming around to help;

    the basics of getting a mod to install if you don't mind losing their audio content is pretty simple

    (download the OSX/Mac versions, lowercase everything, remove all the old weidu stuff, download the latest linux version of WeiDU from the bigg's site, and install with "WeInstall mymod", and play)

    and with audio things get crazy.
