Hello to all of you guys.

My problem (?) is quite simple.

Ranger class in IDII seemed to poor and a little weak to me, even for IDII standards, were all classes are limited.
So I downloaded this mod from this site.

    It grants Rangers:
I don't know if I should use it though. Doesn't it make Ranger too strong? None of those bonuses above is very overpowred, but with two weapon fighting which is strong in ID II (since two handed weapons don't grant 3.5e 2x power attack et cetera).

    What do you think?

    Thanks for all replies.

I'm pretty sure crucis would want you to download it. ;)

I say it's your game and if you want to use it, go ahead. If you decide you don't like it, you can always uninstalled.

I haven't tried Light of Selune yet, but I've been strongly considering it for my next round of IWD2. I think crucis made some excellent changes to armor, etc. And the bonuses that Rangers receive now means that they useful for more than a 1-level dip (for the free TWF feats) for a Fighter and/or Rogue.

Generally, two-handed weapons ARE considered to be better than TWF in IWD2, because of the STRx1.5 damage granted with a two-handed weapon.

With TWF main nad grants 1xstrenght dam, and second gives additional 0.5, so I can't see your point :hmm:. It's exactly the same.

And power attacking (3) with two weapons is already better than power attacking (5) with TH. Then difference gets bigger. Not to mention bard's song, magic weapon e.c. TWF benefits from all those.

Speaking of class upgrades - all changes seem to work just fine, save from Ranger's archery (at least at my computer) - on 3rd level my ranger received some additional +1 which can be explained only by this, but that's all. He didn't get any additional attack bonus on 6th, and +1 bow he sometimes was dealing 2 points of damage, so it seems that he doesn't have any bonus to damage.

    Hi spiryt.

It's possible that the ranger portion of the Light of Selune mod may not function perfectly. I tried my best to make everything work properly, but I wouldn't be surprised if some things slipped past my testing.

OTOH, if you go thru most of the mod, you'll find that there are a number of items that are aimed at rangers ... particularly in the Wandering Village. Be sure to talk to the new NPC's in the WV.

Hey crucis! Good to see you around again! :)

Do you still have plans to release v2 of LoS? I'm interested in hearing what you've got planned for the subplot, if so.

    Hi Crusis!

I just arrived to VV, I don;t have too much time to play recently, so I'm still thinking if I'm going to play with LoS.

So I have few questions, if you don;t mind:
    - does your new merchants, or generally new stuff change something in plot, quest course or else? I won't like such things too much, and I have polish version, so too much english text that suddenly appears beetwen polish lines... is annoying and confusing (even though I can understand it), I think you can imagine.

    - aren't your new items too, you know, cheesed up? I love new interesting items, but I don't like too powerful items that completely change the game ( I shouldn't play D&D, I know ;)). From what I'v seen now,few items reperesents a bit : ''and one more magical quanity now" style. Not that it's bad, but personally I don't like it.

Anyway, thanks for replies, and thanks for the great work.

Now, with Cat's Grace and Barskin my ranger finally got some options on 10 -15 level. :thumb:

    Happy April Fools, everyone.

Question: Why does the mod automatically grant two-weapon fighting to fighter types?

    Warning: Class Upgrades component sucks

This mod has good and bad sides.

I replaced the original files for the Cera Sumat sword (60SWDLHA and 60HFSLHA, back them up before installing and place in Override folder afterwards), you can drop it in override to bypass the wisdom requirement this mod gives it.:p or just install the Ease-of-use component Improved Holy Avenger after this one. Ease-of-use needs it's weidu installer updated for this.

DON'T install Class Upgrades component (yet...) - you get mostly crippling restrictions. What Class Upgrades does do is add Stoneskin and Tremor to the druid selection at level 5 and 8, respectively. Stoneskin is already added by Ease-of-Use at lvl4, but moving Tremor from lvl9 to 8 is quite useful. Install the component, open a savegame with a high level druid, pick some tremors at level 8, save game or export character, uninstall the component, open new save or import character... voilá: Your druid has Tremor at level 8!

As for the "Rangers now get an improved Reflex Save progression.", it's useless for me. Perhaps at high level the ranger gets high reflexes, but when I added 1 level ranger to my high level monk 1 / druid X, it dropped my reflex saves by over 10 points. Pretty much ruined my character.

And why make diplomacy cost 2 skillpoints for a sorcerer?

My conclusion: The Upgraded Classes component of LoS has almost only crippling disadvantages. Forget about taking a level of ranger so you can dual wield weapons, and your sorcerer becomes much less of a diplomat.:(
