Anyone here play this game? I play it on battle.net Blizzard's free online server and it's quite fun. I never play the "melee" games only Use Maps Settings. It's amazing to see what kind of maps people have made with the editor, since it's so flexible and easy to use. One of my favorites are World War II maps, and there are actually many clans dedicated solely to this map alone.

I've played before but I don't do it that often. I don't play on the net because I'm not good at it yet.

Well, most people I play World War II maps with are horrible at "Melee" which is the standard version of the game which is basically killing each other. Once you learn the basic functions you can be good at any UMS games. Also another one is 20th Century, with alliances and everything that change according to the year.

I've enjoyed lots of StarCraft, but I suck so I mostly play the single player campaigns ;).

Ive also played lots and lots of Starcraft. But almost only single player. I dont have the nerve to go up against humans that rush you after 2 minutes I am too much of a bad loser for that.

I played many Strategy-games and in the end it became rather boring. Dune 2, Warcraft, Warcraft 2, Command & Conquer, Red Alert... I only like Warcraft 2.. the rest is all boring now... however I'm still waiting for WarCraft 3... witch will besides Strategy also have Roll-Playing-elements!

I only messed around with Starcraft in the dorms. Never really liked it, and I can't figure out the appeal of the game. But Red Alert 1 and 2 (as long as you *mute* the movies) are pretty good. Low cut cleavage shots are a staple of any good game; just look at Hollywood...

I used to play Starcraft over LAN with my friends a couple of years back, but was never very good at it. I used to suggest Warcraft II instead, but the others didn't want to play it if they had to face me (I was very good at it at the time, at least compared to them ;))

I'm currently waiting impatiently for Warcraft III (and NWN, of course).

Starcraft was great! Loved it ... but like the others, not enough to play on-line.

Played through the game (not Brood War) twice. Never done humans though, not really interested as I mostly liked the plot. (Not to mention I'd lose big time.)

Yep, great starcraft addict here :borg: , play it every thursday still, online, my favourite battles are those with 4 players and a free for all setting.
The game will be put aside though once Warcraft 3 is out!

I obsess about Starcraft. I know one of the team members who made it. I can use AI against the opponent. Even the firing AI. I have never been defeated. I have played several hundred games.

Starcraft is about the only oldish game that is still played. It came out in what? 1998? That may not seem like a long time until you consider that there have been 3 Command and Conquer games, Age of Empires and the expansion pack, Quake 3 came and left, Unreal Tournament was blasted by Tribes 2, bullet time entered gameplay, and there have been 3 Final Fantasy games.

Oh, and one more thing, Blizzard is currently highering for work on a "Secret Project." Hmm...wonder what that could be?

    1. Warcraft 3? Nope, already known about.
    2. Diablo 3? Please! The expansion for 2 just came out.
    3. Starcraft 2? Come on! Why would...oh yeah. Oops, there is a HUGE market for that. Booyah! I want to slaughter Kerrigan and all she stands for! *grrr*

You stay away from QUEEN Kerrigan. She and the swarm will rule the galexy.

SC is alota fun, but (like all multiplayer games) best on a lan where you can yell at each other. Battle.net just isn't as fun after 3 on 3 lan games, killing friends is much more fun than random strangers. The best thing about sc is that each race is really individual and require different stratigies, plus each race has enough variety to allow multiple styles of play. I expect if the new blend of rpg elements into WC3 is popular, we'll see a similar effort on sc2. Maybe even a 4th species or whatever that hybrid thing in the bonus level of brood wars was.

Oh, I LOVE Online SC. almost as much as I shiver in anticipation for NwN, I await Warcraft III cause its going to be stratagy/RPG type that will rule!! I do alot of 3v3 people. Its great to go against people, where you have a real thinking yet limited human mind to throw your stratagy against. Im not a clanner, or a hacker, I just play the game. Sometimes with my friend down the street. If you ever see FrozenVision (me), or HondaCivic (my friend) shat with us, we love meeting new peeps to play with.

Has anyone tryed BG1 or BG2 online? Ive thought about it, but dont know if it would be as fun as the game.

Only place I know where you can play BG2 online with large groups of people is on Gamespy. There are rarley and games to join, and most people on there are cheaters anyway. Also, you're not required to download the latest patch like you are on b.net, so you can't play with half of the people on there. Also, people with ToB can't play with people who don't have it, so I rarley play SoA.
