 It seems those rascally republicans always get it in their heads that God is always on their side...

Wait, since when can a mere human being invoke the wrath of God upon someone? Hmm, looks like someone is getting a bit arrogant (although I'll bet you he thinks he is being pious).

In any case, 2008 will be a good year, methinks.

I do not find it relevant whether democrats jumped on the Iraq bandwagon or not. It is not an excuse, there were plenty of people who did not and who in hindsight have been proven correct. The blindness over the reasons for the Iraq war was not so much a Republican thing as it was an American thing. The GOP was just the driving force.

On this small insignificant forum we had plenty of people who refuted every single reason with very good arguments long before the war was a fact. Do not claim that the criticism appeared after everything was blatantly uncovered, it was uncovered long bofore that for those who cared ot think and look.

Hogwash, joacqin. Every single major intelligence agency in the world said that Saddam had WMDs. The only thing American (and do try not to forget the Brits) about it was that we were the ones who had the willpower to do something about it. Oh, and also the fact that Saddam was shooting at our planes enforcing the no-fly zone that he agreed to. Oh, and the fact that our administration is one of the few countries that wasn't benefitting from corrupt Oil-for-Food deals.

Heh, it appears that even the CIA and MI-5 were not overly certain about exactly who had what. From what I have managed to understand the CIA claims that they was not able to produce any damnable evidence even when directly told to.

Perhaps there is some confusion between the "intelligence agencies" and the administrations:

Question: Even if everyone thought Iraq had WMD, didn't we invade without going through the UN first? I would assume that that is bad...

They tried to go through the UN first. There, at the UN, they tried to convince the others that Iraq had plenty of WMD. They tried to convince the others BECAUSE they DID NOT believe in the WMD.

Indeed, the dimplomatic way it was pust was following, that the USA convincingly proved that it would be better to investigate some more IF Iraq really had that piles of WMD like the Americans said they would have... which they in fact did not.

And as a result, no one knows really what this war was all about. No one, particularly not US-Americans. No one. All there is are blind speculations because there's not enough information around to really know. Maybe in hundred years, when all documents are opened up, it will become known to the public what this war was all about, till then...

It's not hard to figure out what this war is all about: more fat government contracts for the defense industry, i.e. money.

Trouble is, Bush, Cheney, Powell, et. al. can't very well go before the American public and the UN and say "my rich country club buddies in the defense and oil industries desire yet more wealth and power so we're going to start a war." Better to forge documents and satellite photos, present that as evidence, then years later when those documents are proven to be forgeries you can feign incompetence to avoid being impeached, laughing all the way to the bank, of course.

No, but some far-too-optimistic people believe otherwise.
