According to a survey reported at Kotaku, 69% of American heads of households play games and the average age of a player is 33. Damn, I'm quite surprised. Wonder when it's going to be like that in Poland. But back ad rem, here's a snip:

Demographics: Sixty-nine percent of American heads of households play computer or video games. The average age of a game player is 33, while the average age of the most frequent game purchaser is 40. In 2005, twenty-five percent of game players were over the age of 50. The average adult gamer has played for 12 years. [1]
Game Content: Forty-nine percent of games sold in 2005 were rated "Everyone," while thirty-two percent were rated "Teen." Sixteen out of twenty of the best selling games were rated "E" or "T". [3] Eighty-nine percent of parents are present at the time their children purchase or rent games, and sixty-one percent believe games are a positive part of their children's lives. [2]

It's about time gaming got recognised as a legitimate pasttime that anyone can enjoy, not just kids.

I think most forms of entertainment go through this: boardgames, tabletop RPGs, comics, video games... they've all gone through times when they were considered exclusively for children, and they've all gone through times when they were demonised as being Evil. I'm glad most people have finally got over that with computer games.

Well, of course! I'm 19, and t'was my father who introduced to "gaming" when I was but a mere lass in preschool. My dad was playing games on the Apple 2 back in the early 80's.

I have been on Boards where there were players that listed their age as over 80. Those were CB games tho.
