Can I create NPC's and use them in the single player game instead of using the ones already there?

Yes you can by creating new characters in Multiplayer, create all characters by yourself, then start a new multiplayer game, make a save and copy the save from the map MPSAVE to SAVE in your BG Directory.

I haven't tried. Why would you, I mean, aren't the guys an' gals in the game good enough or something?
If u make all characters by yourself, then the game will probably a lot easier, because you'll sit an hour of two, just to get a score as high as possible for your ability's.
I think guys like Keldorn, Korgan, Edwin and Yoshimo and gals like Aerie and Nalia are good enough...

I've tried it. If you want to try several new classes that aren't in the game (as NPCs) then this is the way to go. Perhaps a Sorcerer, Barbarian, Wizard slayer, Assassin and a Skald in one go.

  7. I used this function to make a party with a player-designed assassin/fighter and my main character, a sorcerer.

I intend on going through with three characters, the first two and Jaheria.

I cycle the other npc's through as needed to do their quests.

The assassin/fighter means I don't have to keep Nalia for her sorry thieving ability, Minsc (fun, but I wanted to use other fighters) or Mazzy (thief will specialize in longswords and shortbow)nor do I have to rush to spellhold to get Imoen. Though I'm doing spellhold early this time, no doubt.

I'm guessing that by the end, I'll have three powerful characters taking on Irenicus. A staff-wielding J., a longsword and bow Gelder, and a sorcerer who can knock your gauntlets off.

    And I'm not even a power-gamer. Yet.
