Jan's lost items I want back

I am an 18 level fighter and i have jan janson in my group. Only he does not have any of his special equitment on him like his robe gloves ETC. I lost his items when i was a level 9 fighter fighting Firkag (the red dragon. After about dozen tries i beat him but Jan died, i didnt think this was a bg deal since i could just raise him back from the dead. But i couldnt find his stuff, i didnt want to start over and try beating the dragon again so i just thought i could use cheats to get them back. But his items arent listed the the cheats so i just went on playing the game. If you know the cheats for his items please respond.

 

Did you try shadow keeper.

 

you know i had the same thing happen to me with minsc. I was fighting the shadow dragon and minsc died then i couldn't find his stuff. So i rested thinking they were under the dragon but when i woke up still couldnt find them?? So had to go to save and kill the dragon again to get his stuff back.

What would cause this??

I had that happen with Firkag too but I finally found them up against one of the walls.I guess the wing buffet blows them there. I really hope they put the highlight key they gave us in HOW in ToB it makes finding things like this so much easier.

 

I lost Cerds equipment after fighting in the druid grove.

I think there might be a bug in the game that removes player equipment that is dropped in "unsafe" places every now and then.

Or maybe the shadow thieves were just trying to get me back?

 

I never spot that in my game, unless...

Sometimes a person fears so much and drops equipment. But, on the other hand I found it later on the floor and picked it up.

Beats me.

And about Jan - when I was experimenting with him in the party, I sold all his default equipment except the crossbow. Somehow, I had better stuff to put on him. No, I don't use that shadow thing to get things from nowhere.

 

Mathetais, just in case you missed it. When you have the fight in the druid area, whoever fights is automatically stripped of all his/her equipment to make the fight fair. Afterwards the new head druid tells you to remember to pick up your stuff before leaving (it is near where the head druid is standing). If it was missing dispite this, then it's a bug.

Also, 2 other things to remember. Firstly the eathquake spell can cause all characters to drop their equipment (don't know if there are any high level clerics/druids to cast this on you). Secondly, if you are moving stuff around in your inventory and using the ground to swap stuff over (I often do this when all NPCs slots are fillign up) and in the process of moving; then the inventory will be on the ground at the point where the chracter was. This might not be were they are standing when you next look. Fairley obvious I know but I've been caught out like that before.

Oh yes, finally remember that all equipment left on the ground disapears over time. if you go back to a temple to resurrect someone and come back 20 hours later, don't be surprised to see the equipment has been looted.

 

many spells destroy items. One example of this is disintegrate. Also if you get reduced to HUGE negative HP (somewhere around -100) all the items will disappear. Firkraags firebreath can act like disintegrate sometimes. Also, if youre fighting a dragon at a low level (chapter 2) one of their normal attacks can do insane damage and get you down low enough to destroy items. I dont know if this is possible without him getting a critical hit so WEAR HELMETS! Ok, Im out of info now and Im going to bed

 

I don't know about others, but the similar kind of thing happened to me with Nalia - and not once. I did find back all her stuff except her signet ring. When she dies and gets resurrected, she doesn't have the ring on. Maybe it's the same kind of thing with Jan? All his special stuff (only usable by him) disappears.
