From Independence Day: It is perfectly possible to write a computervirus and upload that virus to an alien mainframe, aliens use Intel processors of course.

When the guy is about to kiss the girl, soft music begins playing in the background.

Similarily, whenever a car chase or dramatic hand-to-hand fight occurs, fast-paced music will play in the background.

The hero might have been tortured, shot, scalped or whatever this morning... he will make savage sex to one or more girls tonight.

You don't need skills to be a good cop, having attitude is everything.

A katana is the best weapon in any situation.

World war one never happened, there was only world war two.

When you are engaged in a fight to the death with your enemy, a recently saved girl present at the scene will rather emit high-piched noises than help you.

In a submarine fight, the boldest captain always wins. Prudence and skill do not count.

OT: If memory serves me, Yamamoto, the Japanese grand admiral of that time, warned his countrymen about the overwhelming superiority of US industry over Japan. The 'awakening the giant' line is misused and overused but true.

IIRC from history class, it was Admiral Yamamoto who masterminded the attack (but thought it stupid) and said, "I fear we've woken a sleeping tiger and filled it with a terrible resolve."

So, no, no real person would say that. :)

    My two cents/pence:
    - cars always explode when shot
    - when traveling down a steep road, the brakes *will* fail
    - when fighting any monster (vampire, werewolf, mummy, etc.) there is conviniently nearby the weapons to dispose of them (stake, silver, flaming torch, etc.)
    - in horror movies, pretty women are stupid and victims
    - no one ever farts unless it's funny
    - seedy motels have the typical whino sleeping on the couch
    - bugs aren't around unless they're the leads (Arachnophobia, Swarm, etc.)
    - swimming in water will end in your death
    - the person with the flashlight/torch is a git
    - English people are protrayed as having upper crust or cockney accents
    - British actors/actresses play better Americans than Americans do
    - babies are alway born clean
    - women giving birth are never in pain unless it's funny
    - men in delivery rooms always pass out
    - police officers can do anything

I forgot to add *my* fave:

    - any foreigner marrying an American for their 'green card' need not go through any kind of exams to get their citizenship papers ( Lies, all lies!!)
