Not Bill Gates, though I wish that were the case. Thew new comp was from my mother; the books were from my best friend; the cash was from a total of about twelve people (most from any one person was $350, from my sister); and the keyboard/mouse set was from my father.

Still using the old computer at this moment, though, since the new one seems to have a faulty processor.

My main gift was a prosumer quality digital camera - I haven't used it all that much so far but I can safely say that it is a huge improvement over my last digital camera.

I also received the usual selection of clothing, books and DVDs (my usual crazy assortment ranging from the boxed extended version of Return of the King to Bubba Ho-Tep.)

I received a few odder gifts this year, a wooden shoe shine box complete with the sloped platform on top that you place your shoe on to polish it, a very old fashion metal nutcracker, and The Mousinator?

I only received one computer game - Sid Meier's Pirates. It is quite fun, it does seem to get a bit repetative after a while so I would have to say that it probably wont end up having the same replayability as say Civ 2/3 but then again what other game does?

A one week holiday in London, socks, art supplies (new chalk pastels, blenders, a set of pencils in different degrees of hardness), a book on chalk pastels, a book on ammonites (fossils), a new computer (a card saying I will get one, to be exact), two courses in woodturning (turning bowls, and turning wet wood), a wooden decorative gecko, an album for our (my sister's and mine) stamp collection (for some reason it says "Horses" on the cover), three audio books (The Light Fantastic; Mort; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe), a glass block with my zodiac sign lasered into it.

I like getting socks. As long as they are comfortable. (And as long as they are not the only thing I get)

Hurray for the traditions of socks and unimaginative gift-givers at Christmas!

Actually, I needed new socks way back in August, just didn't bother getting any since I expected to get some, if not on my birthday, on Christmas... So they weren't entirely unwelcome. And they're comfy too.
