    Carsomyr:

    damage:1d12+5
    Attack:+5
    Equipped abilities: 50% Magic resistance
Whenever an opponent is struck, Dispel Magic goes off.
Abilities: Can cast dispel magic 3 times per day.

I like it a bit more than the ohter weapon ;)

Ah, but Cera has unlimited Dispel magics, and you can use a shield/other weapon with it.

Think about it: Cera and Oh, C. Fury at the same time. Perfect for a pally, eh?

Naw, if anything I would use BlackRazor in the other hand :) , but it doesn't matter, because Carsomyr dispels on every hit, which is more than you really need :) You also end up doing more damage unless you do use 2 weapons with the other, but even then, it's not a whole lot more, that's a d12 we're talkin' about! Iono, I'm just more partial to the Carsomyr because you have to kill a Red Dragon, (which for some reason in bg2 isn't as powerful as it's supposed to be, while Abazigal is tons more powerful that heshould be!!). Comes down to it, the 50% magic resistance is well worth it no?

Not to sound like a jerk or something, but if any weapon is over powered, its the black razor. The only reason I say that is because you can take it with you into tob.

And for the Cera, you had to fight a very hard battle for it, which, imho, was much harder than the not-so weak Red dragon. Aren't Dragon's supposed to be a bit... tougher?

Firkragg shouldn't have been possible to defeat without a party including a level 24 fighter/cleric/mage/thief :-\ according the monster manual for a dragon that's 1000 years old :)

I'm agreeing, except that blackrazor is better, because carsomyr counters blackrazor by dispelling it's effects when the player hits you :(

3E AD&D rules have ancient red dragons (like Firkraag) as Challenge Rating 24 meaning a party of 4 characters of 24th level should be able to handle him without too much trouble. Any Challenge Rating 8 or move above the average party level is considered an impossible fight, so the idea that a party in SOA could get the better of him is kind of laughable.

Then again, you can have a party of 6 in SOA so that obviously makes quite a difference. Even so, as it's possible to beat him with characters of 10th level or thereabouts, the Firkraag you fight in the game is a LOT weaker than the real version should be.

His difficulty factor must have been lowered to make it a possible fight.

Yup yup, same goes for many Dragons you meet along the way. You might realize that there are dragons only a few decades old, making them juveniles/Young Adults at best. This means a level 8 party should be able to handle them. Problem is, they end up being challenge rating like 14-40 because of the game progression and balance.

Off topic. do not forget you do have the blood of a god in you. You should be able to kill dragons sooner than most.

The blood of a god, but not the powers of a god. And none of your companions (aside from Imoen) have anything god-like about them.

Not true, that essence only does so much for you. It doesn't increase your effective level. If it did you would have to be lower level in the game because you would start off with a level adjustment! ;)

But yes, the Carsomyr is worth the fight that SHOULD be near impossible ;)
