Ok, this thread is to list you picks for the top 5 bands from the late '70s all thoughout the '80s and even the very early '90s. Along with your top 5 picks, please give your top 5 songs. List the bands and their songs in the order of which you like the best...#1 being your most favorite.

Now, the word 'Rock' is so general. I'm looking specificly for "Big hair bands", heavy metal, and "Glam rock". If these terms mean noting to you, then you shouldn't be posting here.

    My top 5 bands are:

    #1: Metallica
1 - And Justice for All
    2 - Battery
    3 - Master of Puppets
4 - Eye of The Beholder
5 - For Whome The Bell Tolls

    #2: Guns N' Roses
    1 - Civil War
    2 - Sweet Child O' Mine
    3 - Patience
3 - Welcome to the Jungle
    4 - November Rain

    #3: Van Halen
    1 - When It's Love
    2 - Why Can't This Be Love
    3 - Right Now
    4 - Jump
    5 - Dreams

    #4: Ozzy Osbourne
    1 - No More Tears
    2 - Mama I'm Coming Home
    3 - Crazy Train
    4 - Goodbye to Romance
    5 - Flying High Again

    #5 - Def Leppard
1 - Pour Some Sugar On Me
    2 - Love Bites
    3 - Photograph
    4 - Foolin'
    5 - Animal

    *Honorable mentions*
    Scropions
    Led Zepplein
    AC/DC
    Bon Jovi (nothing after 1990)

    Your list? :rolling:

I think this is becoming the best thread to ever grace the BoM. :thumb:

No one listed Rush or Queensryche huh? I heard a song from each of them today and I said to myself, "Wow...I haven't heard that song in a very long time!" :rolling:

For those who don't know, Here is where HB showed his Rush ignorance. It's about halfway down the page.

This is a good thread, Kitrax.

I think that many of the groups, which are posted don't fit to the "late 70s" criterion because they released their first album in early or in middle 70s (Rush, Queen, Aerosmith, Kiss, Scorpions, AC/DC) but since this is Kitrax's thread and he is happy with it, I don't think that it really matters.

Yeah, I would've said Rush was neither metal, nor hair, nor glam. Queen would be a bit of a stretch but for the glam (I tend to put that in a different category than metal and hair [which is - for me - a subset of metal] but *shrug*)

And HB was ignorant of Rush - we have educated him on them; and maybe created a fan? ;)

Queensryche is definitely metal, though getting a little gloomy and grungy - rather dark like NIN and Soundgarden.

And aye, VERY interesting thread Kit...even though I'm sorely tempted to edit my list AGAIN.... :help:
