[IMG] Have you guys heard of an Australian band named "The Cat Empire"? A friend of mine recently got back here to Norway after beeing down under for 6 months, he brought back their album which is simply amazing! The athmosphere! The melodies! That australian dialect! It's a 6 on the dice a 11/10! These guys are gonna be huge!

Is there by chance any aussies here that can tell me how famous they are down there? Because here in Norway/scandinavia they're almost unheard of..

It's a blend of Reggae, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Swing, Gypsie, Scar, Rock and old-time dancehall.. yeah that should cover it..

Their biggest hit in Australia so far is "Hello"

Some people call it "ska". It's trumpets and other brass instruments, really catchy rhythms and tunes, that kinda stuff.. :)

    The Cat Empire ROCK!
I've only heard 2 or 3 tracks of theirs - Hello and Chariot (I think that's what it's called) are the only two I can think of by name and as great as Hello is, I prefer Chariot. I first found otu about them after seeing their clip played a few times between shows our our non-commercial Indigenous channel SBS.

They actually played here in Coffs some months back but unfortunately when I went to buy a ticket the person before me bought the last one.

Whats Gypsy? - Over here Gypsy's play with accordians and whistles. I don't think I have ever head this in ska music.
