As most europeans I am a christian and as all swedes I am a lutheran, but for me that is an ethnic and social belonging. I identify with that group and I belong among them but I do not have a faith per se.

well, that would technically make you athiest, meaning that you do not believe, having no faith means that you dont believe. simply belinging to a group doesnt make you part of that religion.

Do you consider Judaism "Some weird cult"?! It seems like a pretty big category to miss by accident.

[IMG] Mainly Athiest, depends who you ask. I'm sort of a cross between druid, pagan, tamnist, 'some weird cult' and athiest... mainly so that.

Mormon people and the Jehovah's Witnesses are not considered Christians? Huh. I'm a nondenominational Christian, although I'm a pretty liberal one, and I find the Church to be rather, ah, provincial.

Hmm. No Jews, no agnostics, no Hindus (but, strange, you have Sikhs, a minority to the Hindus and Moslems in India). Pretty Christian oriented (44% of the options are of some Christian denomination). Can't vote . . . I don't fit in any of your categories as an agnostic/Jew. Oh well. (My sister-in-law is Sikh, but I don't think I can vote that way.)

Just pointing out something, just because some one doesn't believe, does not make them an athiest. If they do not disbelieve the existence of a god but, neither do they believe, that means they are agnostic. (It is Basically saying "I don't know")

As for people who completely disbelieve the existence of a god, then they are athiest.

    To my understanding

DMC, agnostics dont really exist, if you dont have enough faith to say without a doubt that you believe, then you dont believe, plain and simple, agnostics are athiest

    Agnostics are *not* athiests.

There is a big difference between saying "God doesn't exist" and saying "I have no way of knowing God exists or doesn't exist". The former allows no room for debate the latter allows for the possibility of God's existence.

actually, atheists do not say "god does not exist." that would be a theism, or belief system.

To my knowledge, the meaning of the word a-theist is one without a religious belief system. That is, they don't believe god exists, they don't believe god doesn't exist. They have NULL in terms of beliefs about the existence or non-existence of god(s).

Some people like to call that "not believing in god". Where this is true, it is misleading. A-theism is not believing in anything. Not knowing, agnosticism, is thus a form of atheism.

Believing firmly that God DOESN'T exist is an entirely different story, and is neither atheism nor agnosticism. Yet most of these people most closely align themselves or call themselves slightly improperly, atheists.

    To summarize:
most a-theists believe they exist without God, not that God does not exist.

I guess I'm an atheist, I don't believe in any god or religion.

I believe in me, where and how we came from isn't interesting what's important is what is now. I usually don't try to bash the believers so I won't do it here.

I believe in facts (which can be debated till death I know) and not in what someone wrote thousends of years ago in a completely different time.

I am also a very down to earh kind of guy, in Holland we call it 'nuchter' or in english 'sober' which is quite weird for a huge fantasy fan. I don't believe in all that spirituality stuff or paranormality(sp?)

I'm just me and the world is just also itself, nothing more nothing less. It is how you see it.
