A few days back i installed and patched and started palying ToEE again, and had a great time! I really like this game, the best RPG game combat i have experienced to days date in any computer/console game.

I have only completed the game once before, and that was with patch 1.1, and nothing else. So this time i went for the Circle of 8 mods. And the game worked better than last time (experienced a couple of anoying small bugs, but nothing critical, like found no sling bullets in entire game etc).

I did find one bug though, that i can not remember from last time. My Gnome Cleric took the craft magic arms and armor as soon as posible (roleplaying reasons, hes an armor freak). So after paying a visit to the Giant in the Emery Meadows, and my ranger did hes thing and snuck over and snagged a couple of items lik the elven chainmail etc without the Giant noticing (phew!) the gnome set to work on the chainmail. Enchanting it to +1, then i wanted to change the name of the chain, and when i entered the crafting screen the item was automatically upgraded to +3 (no xp or gold cost...), after some experimentation i found the same aplied to any armor or shield, i could enchant them to +1, rename them and they instantlly became +3. Very handy, very economical ;)

From memory, i installed, patched with 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and then isntalled Co8 version 4.0 (since the 5.0 is still in beta i went for the old one).

Not that i am complaining, i was just curious if anyone else had experienced any similar problems. Cheers!

Well, if I were to wager a guess, I'd point my finger at Atari patch 3. Co8 specifically recommends against installing this patch in conjunction with their mod (claiming that their mod fixes all of the key stuff patch 3 does, anyway).

You should install atari patch 2 (which contains atari patch 1) and the Co8 mod, leaving patch 3 alone.

If you're going to attempt this configuration, it might be worth your time to just do a clean install of the entire game, to avoid the possibility of quirky things popping up from the removal of patch 3.

Actually, this bug has been around since the get-go. None of the official patches fixed (or created) this bug. Even the fine modders at Co8 haven't been able to run that one down (yet.)

Sounds like I've been lucky then, because in my several run throughs of this game (which include many varieties of patch levels and mods), I've never once run into this issue. And I usually have at least 2 crafters in the party.

This bug applies to (as far as I can tell) every magic armor or shield. Simply looking at it in the crafting screen automatically bumps it up to +3. Just rename and save. It's a helluva cheat, but I gotta admit - every magic armor or shield I come across gets the "look over." At least it doesn't increase the selling value when you do it...
