    Here's an excerise for fun:

One night when our test server went down, one of our guild members brought up his just-for-fun module for us to hang out in for a while. It allowed local characters, but had item level restrictions enabled.

One guy brought in his level 20 uber-monk. He was so buffed by items that he had that he was untouchable and was able to destroy the multiple dragons that were thrown at him within seconds.

Any idea on what he might have created for his character to make him so powerful? I tried to come up with something similar and have so far failed to cover all of the bases.

Well probably something that gave him immunity to knockdown and one or more regeneration items to start with.

That's be a start, but this character took out 2 dragons in a row without taking more than a few dozen points of damage at most.

Well I left out the haste stuff that may have been used because a monk naturally moves faster than for example a ranger with haste boots on. What kind of damage did he do? That may also help in figuring out what kind of stuff he had on.

I don't recall the average, but he quoted a critical around 80, IIRC. It was a lot of damage with every hit. I'd guess he may have averaged around 25-30 per hit, and he hit a lot!

I assumed he'd have Haste for the +4 AC at least.

What he probably had was damage reduction +5/30, as well as damage resistance 30/- to all types of damage, immunity to knockdown, fear, etc, items to boost his strength and wisdom, and some gloves that deal out multiple types of damage.

No, the best Monks have Power Attack and you need 13+ str for that I think.

By what kind of damage I meant did he do any kind of damage such as: fire, acid, water, electrical? If he did this would indicate some kind of special glove that he was wearing that did this kind of damage.

I've no idea what types of additional damage he may have been doing, but I have been assuming all along that there were multiple additional damage types being applied. A level 20 monk can only do about 29 points of damage max (d20+9) with no additional damage types. That would be about 20 points/hit on average.

I dont know how exactly how but i met a monk who could kick anybody's ass in minutes too. All lvl20. And i bet a few dragons wouldnt be a problem to him.

What he did was a dexterity monk (weapon finesse, highest dex as possible). In the end at lvl20 he had 60AC!. His saves were already insanely high just becouse he was a monk and plus he even had spell resistance common to high level monks. And He was impossible to hit unless you rolled a natural 20 which happens 5% of the time

His damage was nothig all that great but he didnt need it. He hit others and none else could hit him with neither spells (it would take few spells to bring his spell resistance down and the few disabling ones to bring him down... in that time every spellcaster died ;) ).

All in all he was near impervious to attacks.
