The books I finished in a day were your standard 300-350 page novels. I can easily read a 1000 pager on a non-work day. I can join Enagonios in the having read the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in two days club.

Anyway, I am currently 100 pages into Memories of Ice and it has been pretty good so far.

A book a day is easy. Even two books a day is possible. And I'm not even a Lit Major, well, not til September, anyway.

Indeed, it does. Currently, Erikson is without equal, at least in the fantasy genre.

Ursula K. Le Guin, The Left Hand of Darkness.

I am half through with it and I am quite sure that nothing has happened yet.

Ta-daaaaa! As the first Pratchett book that I will re-read, the honor goes to... Night Watch. Easily the most moving of the Discworld series.

oooh, I really enjoyed that book, Iku-Turso (at least, what I read of it before I lost it. :( ). I was thinking of picking it up again, having just finished "Judaism, Physics, and God" by David Nelson. The latter is an exploration of new metaphors for God from the realm of physics, to replace the traditional metaphors that can make modern people feel alienated from traditional religions.

Do you happen to know if the Capra work has been updated to include any of the new developments in physics, since its original publication?

Well the one I'm reading has been printed out in the 80's and it has some updated things about sub-atomic physics, but there's a newer version printed in 2000...(checked it out from wikipedia...)

Damn! Now I just have to go book-hunting into a library for that newer version!

edit: "Judaism, Physics and God"? Interesting, although, to be perfectly honest, I've gained a little allergy for Judeo-Christian worldviews from my theology studies, so I'm probably not going to read that one...

Hmmm interesting Zelazny's 1981 work reminds you of Nylund's 1998 work :skeptic:

I am just about to start Deadhouse Gates, so I can see if I agree with the majority of you; in that he's the best writer around. Watch this space.

Re-reading the "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" books. Why does Williams like to torture his characters so?

point taken :p i would've corrected the way i phrased it, but since I did read Nylund's first, I figured the sentence was still correct :p

Am more than halfway through. very entertaining, but as of now, I prefer Pawn's Dream.

It's OK Enag, I'm a huge Zelazny fan, he is my favourite author; I'll try Nylund some time and let you know :)

Currently working on Robin Hobb's Forest Mage. Very promising beginning. I like the way she makes her heroes to seem human, that is, the way I can't agree with all the decisions the hero is making, some of them being quite foolish.

(And still on that Tao of Physics, couldn't find the newer print from our libraries...)

I am making my way through Dan Simmons' Hyperion (Hi-peer-e-on ?) It's somewhere between amazing, intoxicating and dull and boring. Depending on who's telling his story.

I'll have to check that book in my region...

I finished Memories of Ice on Friday. I would certainly agree that it was an excellent novel. I would be tempted to suggest that Erikson should go back and rewrite the first book in the series seeing as how his writing skill seems to have improved so much since then.

Yesterday I started on Shaman's Crossing by Robin Hobb. So far I am not overly impressed but Hobb seems to always start poorly and end well so I will wait to see how this one works out.

Almost finished Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson for the second time. It has been as slow-going as it was the first time, but still fantastic.
