As the title suggests, which of the salvatore books should be films, oh and which director should make them?

    Mine would be:

    The Icewind Dale Trilogy

(Yep all three, if LOTR can do it why not)

    Directed by... Ridley Scott

(Casted and filmed Gladiator perfectly, especially the battle scenes, excusing the gas canisters in the chariots of course)

Ok what do you guys think?

Gas Cannisters in the Chariots? I have to watch Gladiator again :)

    And I agree.

I will say the dark elf trilogy,

would be nice to watch the birth of Drizzt and his education in the drow city.

Homeland and Sojourn should definetly be filmed! With good actors and director, Sojourn could easily become a classic!

Definatly the dark elf trilogy. I think the Icewind dale trilogy would be too much battles. The dark elf trilogy is more intriguing (sp?), one could make that movie more a thriller then an action movie.

The question should be: Who will play drizzt and Zaknafein.

(Edit: some typo's and the important question of course)

Dark elf trilogy. It could be great film noir. A lot of dark and infravision scenes, the fights in dark would be terrific if done well. That would be atmosphere...

Both. The IWD Trilogy *and* the Dark Elf Trilogy, a rather huge undertaking, but it would be great. As long as they get someone like Peter Jackson, a genious director who also doesn't let CG swamp the story (like Episode 2...ugh).
They couldn't use any "big name" actors though, cause there really aren't any that could be Drizzt, Zaknafein or Catti-Brie.

Ok I may be going out on a limb here but how about Kirsten Dunst as Cattie-brie she looked amazing as a red head in spiderman.

Peter Jackson would definitely be good to have as a director because he knows how fantasy works, but I would be too scared to let him do it incase he messed it up, and cut-and-pasted it like LOTR.

None, plenty of better books before them in the line.

As much as I don't like it. I'd have to go with the crowd here and say the Dark Elf trilogy. I'd love to see his life from the beginning. With all his build up of his personality in there.

I definitley have to say that Exile or Sojourn would make the best films of all his books. His other books always tried to encompass all the other characters, but you could tell the only character he really WRITES is Drizzt, so I think the Dark Elf books, just because they focus on Drizzt, the only character he seems to really care about. The director would have to be a big Forgotten Realms fan, and I don't know what movie-directors are into that.

Would be nice to see Stanley Kubrick do it though.

(Film noir means that it would be made like a 1930's or 1940's detective movie, you know how people will be having a conversation and the detective's thoughts narrate what's going through his head. Just make it dark and gritty, without the fim noir, please.)

    Unfortunately, Stanley Kubrick is dead.

It have to be the Dark-Elf-Trilogy, but only if the story is just based on the books and is not written from Salvatore.

The Icewind Dale-Trilogy is one of the worst stories i've ever read. The first book is quite acceptable, but it goes down from there.
