Are the two worth playing? Any particular experience to share?

I played Siege of Avalon for a week, then I got trapped with some funky bug and I couldn't go any further than the castle I started in. It's a pretty good game, very different from what I normally played (at the time). I remember having to keep putting a rose on my paper doll.

Haven't played it, but likely to after this review:

The system requirements are surprisingly low, which is a plus as I am not planning on upgrading for a while. Granted the graphics aren't exactly up there with Oblivion, they're still not that bad. Seems like a fun game... looks like I'll have to wait and see...

But before I buy I'll try the Demo which will take forever cause of my blasted dial-up connection

Ah, dunno about Gothic II, but I've played SoA (hmmm) as well, it was interesting and less demanding than the original BG on my system, but for some reason I just never bothered finishing it...

I tried the demo, and though it is short and the combat difficult, it was fun and I intend on getting the full version (whether by buying or downloading I know not, especially as I haven't seen it in any stores last I checked....). One thing I liked most was the NPCs, they have personaility, but more so that each has a daily schedule they follow, and they react to your character realistically. For example running around town with your weapon drawn isn't taken very well, nor is interupting people's sleep. Its something I find lacking in a lot of games, and as for the schedule, it really addsto the realism. Mind you the graphics are out of date, they are good enough to make for some fine emersion into the game world. I've been looking for a game like this for some time, and am happy to have found it :D

But I have one question for those who've played the full version; Do you still need scrolls to cast spells if you become a fire mage? Thanks in advance for the info :)
