Is Icewind Dale 2 indeed better than Fallout 2?

Ok first I must say this is a very specific poll designed for a very specific objective. To see if the majority opinions here side with IWD2. I've never gotten interested in the icewind dale games. The first one was a disappointment to me. I never finished it. A person told me a the 2nd one was better than FO2. This inspired me to make this poll alone. Obviously if a lot of people think its better than FO2, it must be worth playing so if it turns out like that, than I will go out of my way to try and play it to see for myself. As of right now its not happening. Lets let the poll decide.

LOL, this isn't even a contest. Fallout 2 is perhaps the best CRPG with the exception of Baldurs Gate 2 and Planescape Torment. Just can't wait until Fallout 3 is made.

[IMG] Actually, there is a Fallout Tactics that is something like Fallout 3.Major bummer it is.Should have been a tactical game but is nothing like it.All because of the rules....

As for the poll I find it funny.IWD is a DIABLO clone of a RPG and is not even worthy of listing it's name near Fallout as an RPG.

IWD2 is not even a CRPG when compared to Fallout 2! While IWD2 is pure hack 'n slash, Fallout 2 has a (almost) real world with thousands of sub-plots and hundereds of interesting NPC:s. If it just wouldn't be so damn full of bugs!

Frostmage, have you patched it? I know even with the patch the car has problems but i havent had any other problems other than that. Fallout Tactics is NOT a real follow up to Fallout 3. Their next game is Lionheart and it is powered by the SPECIAL engine and is a mediaval D&D type world. They are either planning on or working on Fallout 3 but expect nothing until at least 2004.

Yes I have patched it. I'm not talking about big game-stopping bugs, but hundreds of small bugs like dissappearing items and people, small stuff like that. It's not really a problem, just a bit irritating.

Never had any people disappear, but in the town where there are kids at the entrances to the buildings, they will steal stuff from you and return it to flick where you have to buy it back. If you already know about this and its not it, then just ignore.

WTF Fallout owns all and IWD2 is just hack slash unlike what the game manual says so I'll leave the comment to you.

[IMG] I say Fallout2 is better. IWD2 is to much hack and slash, but I did enjoy both.

    Fallout rules all.

Oh and it seems that Project van Buren (Blackisles newest project) is in production and it is either Fallout 3 or Torment 2. I think it is Fallout 3 but we can only hope.

    Whoa.

It was almost a tough call, until I thought about it for a couple of seconds.

    IwD2 wins. Definately.

On a related side note, Daikatana would have beat out FO2, as well.

Just wondering for those who prefer IWD2 better, WHY?????? Fallout 2 has one of the best stories and most freeform layouts of any RPG ever.

    [IMG] @ejsmith,
Hmm, confusing indeed.... Daikatana at one side with Fallout 2. You certain that we are speaking about the same Fallout?

Isn't Daikatana that crappy shooter? Anywho, just so you guys know, I didn't like the first IWD, dungeon crawl after dungeon is no fun. With that in mind, how is IWD2 any better? Does it play the same as the first or does it actually ofter a variety like FO and BG?

Wrong place to ask that question. I seem to remember that a previous thread some time back already proved that more people here are familiar with Icewind Dale rather than Fallout. And since people usually vote for what they know even if they've no idea of the other half of the question, you'll have some real distorted answers in your poll.

Surprisingly though the majority was with Fallout. Icewind Dale is far too simple to be compared with it anyway, even if it is set in a fantasy world.
