No, there are no strongholds, no places for which any character can manage for a period of time, getting quests, gold and experience.

Think about it, you get to create up to six characters, plus a minor fact of freedom in multiclassing, assigning stronghold quest like it was in BG2 would be hard, to say the least.

Yeah, and also in BG2, you spend the whole beginning part of the game in Balder's Gate. So you can come back quite often, since you don't get to very different area's. In IWD2 you don't spend much time at the same area.

Roekemoes - What do you mean you spend BG2 in Baldurs Gate? Baldurs gate is in BG1 but not BG2

In BG2 you start the game in... Balder's Gate right? Wait now I'm confused :hmm:
    Wow! Really dum mistake, sorry!
I ment you spent a lot of time in Athkala, what makes is much easier to implant strongholds.

IWD2 is a lineer game. There aren't many side quests which throws you to far parts of the world. Maybe there is just one exception to this. Yuan-ti temple in Jungle of Chult where the weather is warm and sunny. The place was like the heaven on earth. :D

Roekemoes, you start the game in the city of Athkatla, in Amn... many MANY miles south of the Baldur's Gate region.

In BG1 you start in Candlekeep (where you were brought up) and make your way to Baldur's Gate to defeat the killer of your foster father Gorion. The killer is named Sarevok, and he is a child of Bhall, just as you are (as you discover in BG2).

When BG1 ends, you are sprung by an evil wizard who wants to abuse your godchild power (Irenicus) who resides in the under-tunnels of Athkatla, and thats how you end up there.

    Problem solved.
