I don't get what's up with this particular magic sword. As you know, you can buy it at Deirdre's store in Targos. For me, the name morphs depending on who goes up to Deirdre - even when it's my monk, Crazy Talk, who probably shouldn't be using a sword anyway.

Is the sword any good? And what's with the name? Can it only be used by the named person?

Its useless during a normal game. And no, anybody can use it.

If you play the game during HoF mode, however, the sword gets replaced by an uber-powerful "Golden Heart of ..." version. Of course, the monsters are that much harder for it.

this sword is the best off-hand weapon for dualwielding longsword chars in HOF, it offers +25 HP and haste and got a +5 enchantment. as these are granted when wielding left too, you can use long swords with more offensive power in the mainhand.

    Yes.
And you can have -4 to your attack rolls for both hands while you are at it too.
And that too IF you have both the Ambidexterity and Two Weapon Fighting feats. Or a level of Ranger.

Though I wonder if having the 'Brilliant Short Sword' in your main hand will allow you to carry only the -2 penalties to attack rolls. Then it would be crazy.

Like Beren says, the 'Heart of ...' is pretty useless. But if you can lay your hands on the 'Golden Heart of ...', grab it.

    ?
thats a 2handed sword. and it is worse than the 2handedsword of xvim+5 and worse than the holy avenger, given you installed the tweak for it from the ease of use mod.
if you havent, the original holy avenger may be a good partner for the golden heart of X.

considering pure damage for dualwielding, the best weapon is the bastard sword of heroism combined with the bastard sword know thy family. these are lost items and you have to install a weimer tweak to be able to find them.

I recently found know thy family in HoF and I havent installed any mods, so at least this sword isnt lost. I found it in the Ice Temple IIRC or very shortly after it.

I use the Armageddon, myself. Safer that way.

(but the Heart is also a good sword. Much, much better in HOF than normal)
