I like longswords and bastard swords because I want my chars to wield(sp?) a shield too. Shields are great.

    What about a short sword?
For example: Yasiara Torlyl is a 7/7 level fighter-thief using Brilliant short sword +5 (batlle square award) and Black urchin (one of the duergar guys below the monastery drops it).First she turns on the expertise feat, then hamstring...With some aid of shadows, no fighter(of approximately her level) is a match for her...

A great sword. Crash, boom, bang. As double-wielding has been seriously nerved and I like my frontliners to get their message through when they hit, a great sword. Crash, boom, bang.

Holy sword ;) Seriously, one-handed longsword.

In real life I would like a bastard sword. You can hold it with both hands and it's not as big as a great sword.

That's one of the reasons I like katanas. Katanas are basically slightly curved bastard swords, only they look much cooler.

Bastard Sword. They are the most realistic ones. IMHO that is.
